This is the funniest thing I've seen today, possibly ever
A tweet by SarahStarberry that says "oh god read the vertical axis" on top of a chart measuring AI models' release dates and model numbers rather than any real capabilities

I accidentally did today. Grok spent a few million tokens today on a task "One thing I should have raised in my first pass: there is no /status skill in this repository. I searched the checkout and this machine and found nothing, so I invented one along with a seed board rather than telling you"

Chinese model is to dominate by creating more variety and iterations eg pure capitalistic competition. Especially in coming from behind, sharing knowledge helps catch up and accelerate research between rival labs.

And it's honestly infuriating, but this is the end goal just as it was for cable....sailing the high seas never goes away as a source of reward.

People are running out of money that they want to spend on subscriptions, but P must grow. The only way to grow P if the pie stays the same size is to optimize for external factors. Adding ads is an additional slice of P.

I still catch so many bugs and see extremely verbose code that tests for impossible situations with even the best llm models. So that much volume definitely invites questions ....

Yes! Actually got into my SWE job by building internal tooling in a non SWE job as an analyst. Didn't even really try to showcase my work but I was always able to pick the rabbit out of the hat so I got some attention that way ...

As a business professional who went into coding BECAUSE I was good at automating the boring stuff, I concur. I ended up automating so much of my jobs busy work that it was super boring. However.... Even with that said, a ton of the business 'work' doesn't even exist and is just make work.

My thoughts....the statement that the air was bad then was good then was bad again. Whatever they did to take down silo 17 poisoned the atmosphere. The solution perhaps. The remote control was gratuitous but I thought it was a good scene. Maybe a test under pressure to screen. Drone wasn't watching

I mean they are. The manufacturing becomes one of two products they sell. If they didn't manufacture, they'd just be a car dealer and no one would be incentivized to finance with them vs a bank. And profits still scale with number of vehicles sold, which need the manufacturing.

I disagree with that. Opus still is helpful. It finds some gaps that sol does not. I'm a firm believer in using multiple models to get multiple 'viewpoints'. Switched my daily driver though ....

Eventually this can all be automated. It'll be like oil refineries. Automated model production at scale.

A couple people proposed its use in my company when the new model came out but most people resisted it because it's not that good and some of us had...other reasons. Unfortunately we are a CURSOR / Claude code as an alternate shop so I have a feeling we'll be getting grok shoved down our throats.

ZELENSKYY: Russia started war, committed war crimes, occupied part of our country. It's not just land — it's homes, people's lives. They stole childhood from our children. That's why, when we are asked what compromises we are ready to make, it sounds UNBELIEVABLY STRANGE to us.
