And they marched—slowly, but inexorably—toward the lights of the great castle, where their descendants slept in safety. The dragon’s silhouette on the cliff was the shadow of an age-old guilt, manifested in retribution. His roar heralded the dawn of a new war—not for power, nor for gold, but for memory, for vengeance, for the silence that had endured far too long.$
