The whole development of the card itself took multiple years including game design.

Of all the cards I’ve worked on, The Gleaming Gold Smaug the Magnificent Headliner from Magic’s The Hobbit set is the one I’m most proud of! I designed and illustrated the card frame and I Art Directed the research and development, print treatments, and foiling decisions.

A handful of cards I had the pleasure of working on for Magic: The Gathering® | Marvel's Spider-Man! 🕸️ These cards couldn't have been made without the countless other humans involved. #wotcstaff #magicthegathering #marvel

Thanks so much! Good detective work—that’s all of them! Some subtle references are 7 gravestones (“7 or more lands”) and the 2/2 zombie has two heads. There’s also a little moon at the top middle that *could* contain Emrakul lol

Dropping today in the Encyclopedia of Magic Secret Lair drop, you can find my Field of the Dead card! While it’s an honor to work on Magic every day, joining the halls of the other Magic artists I look up to is a life goal achievement. AD: Jacob Covey #wotcstaff #magicthegathering

My hope is that we will remember each other, As we look into the other’s newness, During another chance at the Universe.

It will draw lines through what once was, And make new shapes out of our debris. These shapes will grow, And fruit, And nourish. And here is where we will meet again, In our other forms, Other sizes, Other ways.

Many centuries from now, Long after all life has become dust upon the currents of our galaxy, Past the time of the collapse of our stars, And as the great blanket of space folds over itself once more, A Being will come. One beyond our language to define.

I worked on a fun end of year gift for our department! These gorgeous deck boxes were designed, assembled, and customized for us by Elderwood Academy. Art by me. Only a handful of these were made. This is not an official Wizards product. #wotcstaff

Golly the Gumdrop in "Don't Mess with a Cute Wizard".
