This is interesting:
How to use this project?

I (Salvatore) believe that the way projects should be shipped and used changed because of AI. The main differences today are:

With AI, users can modify the software in significant ways with low efforts, costs, and even lacking deep domain knowledge about the task they want to accomplish. For instance, a DwarfStar user with a specific hardware setup can ask a coding agent to improve the inference speed of this software for the specific hardware setup, asking the model to reach the maximum prefill and generation speed without impacting correctness, and also asking to do a deep QA pass.
Similiarly, because of "1", software may be shipped in a different way than before. It must be more a working template for the biggest use cases, without trying to cover every possible setup. If DwarfStar showcases a few good implementations of tensor parallel execution, the code will work as a rail for implementing the same feature in specific conditions, for a new model, and so forth.

So, while this project attempts to be usable for the featured models and the most common hardware setups, I ask you, if you have access to coding agents, to consider using coding agents as an interface to discover the project, make modifications, create personalized setups. This way you can likely do more than what we ship, and certain things that are not documented or implemented, and that you require, are potentially very easy to achieve.

Merci Etron Musk ❤️

My favorite advice in the oh so useful "Don't make me think!" by Steve Krug has always been:
The head of Chapter 5 of "Don't Make Me Think, Revisited_ A Common Sense Approach to Web Usability" by Steve Krug:

Chapter 5. Omit (needless) words
THE ART OF NOT WRITING FOR THE WEB

Get rid of half the words on each page, then get rid of half of what’s left.

—KRUG’S THIRD LAW OF USABILITY

Of the five or six things that I learned in college, the one that has stuck with me the longest—and benefited me the most—is E. B. White’s seventeenth rule in The Elements of Style:

17. Omit needless words.

Vigorous writing is concise. A sentence should contain no unnecessary words, a paragraph no unnecessary sentences, for the same reason that a drawing should have no unnecessary lines and a machine no unnecessary parts.1

«For the Sotos, this “material support” included owning a “printing press” used to print anarchist zines and being part of a leftist book club, the federal government argued. The couple had already left the scene by the time guns were drawn.» 2/2
The Emma Goldman book club

The Sotos’ crimes largely stem from a “printing press” that the FBI noticed during the initial raid of their home: a standard office printer, a paper cutter and a book binder. During the raid, one of the Sotos’ children told Elizabeth’s attorney that police put a bag over their head and brought them in for an interrogation; another child was interrogated in the home. Elizabeth only found out about their child being taken for interrogation from an article published by the anarchist collective Crimethinc that was later made into a zine. The justice department did not return the Guardian’s request for comment on the raid of the Sotos’ house, its attacks against the first amendment or its unusual use of counterterrorism law.

The federal prosecution argued the Sotos used the printing press to produce anti-government zines for a book club they and some of the other defendants were part of, named for the celebrated 20th-century anarchist Emma Goldman, who 99 years ago this month was arrested on conspiracy charges for organizing against the first world war draft.

At the book club, the group read political zines on subjects like “a journal of materialist feminism” and “a call for the eradication of artificial intelligence from the face of the earth” – perhaps niche, but nothing illegal, an FBI agent testified in court. Still, the FBI seized these zines, along with the printing press and a collection of poetry about losing a sibling to cancer.

A California fire department recently sent a message to drivers who park in front of fire hydrants: don’t do it. You might not only get a ticket and towed, but your windows might get broken, too.

A fuel cell has no mechanism to strip hydrogen atoms from long-chain hydrocarbons like oil or gasoline. Attempting to feed raw oil into a fuel cell would immediately contaminate the platinum catalysts inside, effectively "poisoning" the cell and destroying it within seconds.2. The Extraction Process (Reforming)To get hydrogen from hydrocarbons (like oil, natural gas, or gasoline), you need a totally different piece of hardware called a Steam Methane Reformer (SMR) or a Fuel Processor. This process involves:High Heat: Temperatures ranging from 700°C to 1,100°C.Catalysts: Specialized materials to break the carbon-hydrogen bonds.Separation: Removing the resulting Carbon Dioxide ($CO_2$) and Carbon Monoxide ($CO$).This is an industrial-scale chemical plant process. It is heavy, complex, and requires a constant supply of water and significant external energy. It is physically impossible to pack this level of refinery infrastructure into the compact, delicate stacks of a hydrogen fuel cell.3. Why Oil is a Poor Hydrogen SourceEven if you could build a portable refinery to extract hydrogen from oil, it would defeat the primary purpose of hydrogen technology:Carbon Footprint: The extraction process would release massive amounts of $CO_2$.Complexity: If you are burning external fuel to create heat to extract hydrogen, you are essentially creating a complicated combustion engine that is significantly less efficient than just burning the fuel directly. In short, hydrogen fuel cells require high-purity hydrogen gas as their fuel. They are clean-energy engines, not fuel-processing plants.

I know Wayland has some advantages over X, but in my opinion they really blew it by keeping it so minimal. Granted, the Wayland protocol could have remained a simple core for a proper, feature-rich and modern library that allows the simple implementation of compositors, but what we have now seemingly stems from the fear of the Wayland developers to define anything.

Instead, what we got was a multitude of proprietary (in terms of specific to popular compositors) extensions, requiring thousands of LOCs of boilerplate to get it all right. To name a particular aspect, color management, Wayland could have been the chance for the Linux desktop to finally be on par with the exquisite color management (to the core!) that macOS offers. Instead, it's just yet another set of extensions that barely works consistently.

Colas Nahaboo @colas.nahaboo.net · 09/05/2026
Toutes, justement!!!

The river-window-management-v1 protocol and other river protocol extensions are stable. We do not break window managers.
Motivation

Why split the window manager to a separate process?

Significantly lower the barrier to entry for writing a Wayland window manager.
Allow implementing Wayland window managers in high-level garbage collected languages without impacting compositor performance and latency.
Allow hot-swapping between window managers without restarting the compositor and all Wayland programs.
Promote diversity and experimentation in window manager design.

Bruce Lindner:
 ·
I just sat through an hour and a half of what had to be the most absolutely BONKERS Cabinet meeting / dog & pony show of all time.
It began as they all do, with his sycophants slathering him with faux praise. Then they took turns taking pot-shots at all of his enemies, Joe Biden of course, Jerome Powell, Kamala Harris, etc. Trump finished it up by saying Barack Obama, contrary to his reputation, “isn’t a smart person.” Then he went into his shtick about acing the cognitive test at Walter Reed three times. “It’s a very hard test. The doctors told me no one has ever aced it before.”
On the topic of Iran, he said “They really want to make a deal, because they’ve been beat to shit.”
By the way, he revealed what the “present” was that the Iranians offered him. It was 10 Pakistani flagged tankers “full of oil” being given safe passage through the strait. No idea how that benefits us, but that’s what he said.
Someone, I think Rubio, suggested Venezuela might put up a statue of Trump in gratitude to him. Trump of course glommed onto that and wouldn’t let it go. “I want to hear more about the statue.”
One very interesting part; Trump mentioned the 25th Amendment, and he wondered why Biden’s Cabinet never enacted it during his term. Lots of nervous eyes darted around the table. 👀
There were two or three periods where some of the banter struck me as familiar. Trump, Hegseth, et al, look as if they were cosplaying the conference scene in the Godfather, with Trump as a decidedly-less distinguished looking Vito Corleone, with Straci, Tatalia, Barzini, Cuneo, all sitting around, nervously listening to this “don.” It was BIZARRE! And in the annals of American history, historically so.
After sitting through all that, I think I deserve a gold medal myself. 🥇
