These games are all about negotiating risk: about engaging logically, but then pushing your luck and living with your choices. (Once you scratch, there's no going back). So I helped build up a little narrative pocket universe for each, in settings and genres where that kind of thinking feels right!

When I was working on ChipWizard™ Professional in Last Call BBS, I made that the metric because that's what made sense for integrated circuits. As I tested those puzzles, I realized I really liked it; even if a puzzle requires a minimum set of tools, you can still noodle on how to pack them in.

Most scratch-off games (Scratchees, Nintendo Game Packs) are just games of chance, as the only action a player can take is to scratch off part of the card. I ended up adding elements from logic puzzles to create something like "minesweeper with resources", with genre variations between the games.
