Em Void 🏳️⚧️ @coherentvoid.bsky.social · 2mThat seems accurate. I like to think there are a lot of people not building the tower. So like a Bruegel painting, this tower of babel can be way over there. Their cognitive faculties degenerate. They can't understand anything. And we just keep going on without their tower... just a dramatic blip 000
Em Void 🏳️⚧️ @coherentvoid.bsky.social · 41mBefore I left one of my jobs, they kinda forced me to write a new program for them. I didn't like the way they were acting. We were naming all of our programs after food. I named the program "Pee Soup" and I think management never noticed and used it that way for at least 5 years. 000
Em Void 🏳️⚧️ @coherentvoid.bsky.social · 1hThat commandment came from a culture very different from ours. Even interpreting it though the current culture requires defining what honor means. And all too often people throw that one out as an act of coercion. There's almost never a parental responsibility implicit on the other side. 010
Em Void 🏳️⚧️ @coherentvoid.bsky.social · 2hOkay I realize times change but I am not that old. We just don't make affordable art scanners anymore? This feels less like progress and more like we are just walking off a technological cliff. Or maybe 2k is affordable and I need to calibrate for inflation. 110
Em Void 🏳️⚧️ @coherentvoid.bsky.social · 3hWtf is going on with my brain? As soon as the heat broke all these ideas started pouring out. 220
Em Void 🏳️⚧️ @coherentvoid.bsky.social · 3hThis gave me an idea! (Like a real one, not a joke) 💡 110
Em Void 🏳️⚧️ @coherentvoid.bsky.social · 3hHmmm. Maybe a non-rigid rotating object. The moment of inertia tensor would stand in as the source. Looks like I need to dust off my elliptic function book. 000
Em Void 🏳️⚧️ @coherentvoid.bsky.social · 3hI need to see if I can build a system equivalent to the three body cislunar system in a lab. Won't be identical but if i can do something with magnets, or even a rotational system, I can measure it with a small lidar or radar and get real data. 100
Em Void 🏳️⚧️ @coherentvoid.bsky.social · 3hI, for one, am feeling this need to take back my tech from those losers. I feel a mad scientist energy rising in me this past month. I think their days are numbered and we have to rebuild it all soon. 010
Em Void 🏳️⚧️ @coherentvoid.bsky.social · 3hI have grown to vibe with bugs so much over this in the past few years. 010
Em Void 🏳️⚧️ @coherentvoid.bsky.social · 3hGonna end up with a really weird Donald in Mathemagicland style cartoon. 000
Em Void 🏳️⚧️ @coherentvoid.bsky.social · 3hWell shit. I went to bed and woke up still wanting to return to my research in cislunar trajectory characterization. So I guess I'm gonna make 2027 about cartoons, music, holography, and cislunar orbital mechanics and the associated pretty simulations. 100
Em Void 🏳️⚧️ @coherentvoid.bsky.social · 14hOkay now I'm really enjoying getting into D&D. I soooo wish I had hung out with the D&D kids in high school and college instead of the "tough" kids who ended up being degenerate assholes. My life would have been so much happier if I had rpg friends when I was young. 130
Em Void 🏳️⚧️ @coherentvoid.bsky.social · 14hDigging out old science code. The sim code is fine. But all the rest is a mix of OOP C++ circa 2009, corporate directed modern C++, and whatever the hell I was doing with memory arenas in 2017. This is going to take some time, but at least I am free to write it correctly now. 010
Em Void 🏳️⚧️ @coherentvoid.bsky.social · 14hStarting a new bullet journal and giving myself xp for doing new things was a good idea. My last journal became a cursed tome of trauma. 030
Em Void 🏳️⚧️ @coherentvoid.bsky.social · 15hThank you, and you too! I might need updated viz. My plotting routines are getting old and still half implemented in immediate mode openGL. And it'd be hard to slice the data set into 3D quickly anyway. Eeee. I imagine it looking like a display on the Enterprise. 110
Em Void 🏳️⚧️ @coherentvoid.bsky.social · 15hI'm sorry. At least I'm starting to wonder if I can use my simulation code to test whether unstable transient lagrange points can form as a result of non-uniform gravitational gyration and solar radiation pressure. I'm getting tired. That sentence was hard to write. Minimal thrust stationary zone? 110
Em Void 🏳️⚧️ @coherentvoid.bsky.social · 16hI still think we should be putting dinosaur fossils on the lunar surface to fuck with future species' scientists. 000
Em Void 🏳️⚧️ @coherentvoid.bsky.social · 16hNo but I'll check it out. Im all inspired to dig out my massive pile of old code and see if I can reconstruct all this coherently now. 110
Em Void 🏳️⚧️ @coherentvoid.bsky.social · 16hI mean there's nothing stopping us from creating a scientific "social media" platform to allow that. It might not work, and nobody might show up, but we would definitely know how to design it to ecourage proper science. And there would probably be 1,000,000 people sympathetic to it. 110
Em Void 🏳️⚧️ @coherentvoid.bsky.social · 16hYeah it's probably here. You know what, I should dig out that simulation code, collect my notes, write everything up, and put it out there. I might be able to get it peer reviewed if I reach out to some old contacts. And UT Austin has a great orbital mechanics program. 110
Em Void 🏳️⚧️ @coherentvoid.bsky.social · 17hHere's a bonus insight: there are some who believe we may already be witnessing the kessler syndrome starting. Populations of small debris emerging in orbits that don't correlate with known events. Might actually start with the very small stuff. I may have directly observed fragmentation. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ 110
Em Void 🏳️⚧️ @coherentvoid.bsky.social · 17hThat makes sense wrt to humor. Obviously my little thing here would be like a 45 page paper with domain specifics, and I cant fully expound on socials. But I sense you get the broad strokes. 110
Em Void 🏳️⚧️ @coherentvoid.bsky.social · 17hAnd, thank you! That's so sweet to say. I have my brilliant moments and this was one of three that were really set up to be big solutions. It all came from the dusty old lost libraries of non digitized research. There's a lot of science we've lost. Many threads snipped. 110
Em Void 🏳️⚧️ @coherentvoid.bsky.social · 17hI had already written neural networks to handle higher order staristics for dynamic systems so applying it to cislunar orbit was fairly strightforward. I got pushed out by management. All they could see was gen ai coders. My hope is to take these methods to the next generations, teach it. 110
Em Void 🏳️⚧️ @coherentvoid.bsky.social · 17hWell it gets a little more complex because the orbital dynamics are complex. Basically you map the statistics at every point to a manageable distribution and get this 4+D energy map. Some paths are more useful than others. The mapping was the hard part. The sources aren't all published. 110
Em Void 🏳️⚧️ @coherentvoid.bsky.social · 18hHey I should put those solutions to unsolved technical problems my previous employers were too foolish to understand right into my cartoon. Millions spent for nothing and in the end, the answer is blurted out by a cartoon cat. 000
Em Void 🏳️⚧️ @coherentvoid.bsky.social · 18hThanks! Which problem? I already did solve the cislunar trajectory problem, it goes back to a 1949 paper about the statistical distribution of beans. But all the other problems I mentioned, idk. 110
Em Void 🏳️⚧️ @coherentvoid.bsky.social · 19hThe irony of cislunar trajectories is that I can use neural networks to solve that problem. But I had to quit when the managers only wanted ai solutions that involved replacing coders with gpt. The problem with ai has always been GIGO. Garbage in garbage out. The jedi arts are lost on these ones. 110
Em Void 🏳️⚧️ @coherentvoid.bsky.social · 19hI always blah blah godel when I turn philisophical. Hadn't heard if that paper. This whole tangent came from fitting bayesian estimators to cislunar trajectories. There are issues with doing that because of the statistics. And I'm seeing the same thing in the ai model outputs. 110
Em Void 🏳️⚧️ @coherentvoid.bsky.social · 19hThe details of the model collapse stuff are not my area of expertise, but I spent a long time seeing the same basic stuff in approximation methods on real data in several domains. It's all new and old. I think I've been through the loop thrice. I'm more of a "reconfigure the sensors" kid. 110
Em Void 🏳️⚧️ @coherentvoid.bsky.social · 20hThe human mind uses language, art, music to comprehend. The reality around us is bigger than we can speak, draw, or sing. My mind is oppressively linguistic. I see the reality, but internal dialogue obfuscates it immediately. Overcoming this is my major spiritual struggle. 020
Em Void 🏳️⚧️ @coherentvoid.bsky.social · 23hYadda yadda Godel Incompleteness yadda yadda blind spots and exploits yadda yadda uncertianty. I think my point is, the horizon for gen ai is way closer than we originally thought it was, and more training seems to make it worse. And, ofc I'm just rambling next to the pool. Not a PhD thesis here. 110
Em Void 🏳️⚧️ @coherentvoid.bsky.social · 23hAs soon as you start to meaningfully diverge into nongaussian predictor distributions, the whole thing falls apart. At the end of the day, ai is just a (complex) approximator over a domain. And it therefore must have statistical walls that prevent it from expressing or classifying certain results. 210
Em Void 🏳️⚧️ @coherentvoid.bsky.social · 23hSo this is interesting and it ties directly into the reason nobody could get reliable estimates for radar classification using neural networks since the 1970s. A lot of it relies on bayesian estimation, which assumes gaussian distributions. 110
Em Void 🏳️⚧️ @coherentvoid.bsky.social · 03/10/2026I want to see a batman movie where robin was there first and adopted batman and he was a shitty little kid. Cuz the story works both ways - if Grayson used gymnastics to fight for justice after his parents died, and found bruce in the alley. But everythings so serious and it should be silly. 000
Em Void 🏳️⚧️ @coherentvoid.bsky.social · 03/10/2026Hey, does the Joker's inconsistent backstory work against the AI surveillance state classification algos? Further, can we estimate an AI based system's response to uncertainty? Like, in the bayesian sense? I feel like genAI is at a point now where we can nail down a system ID response. 110
Em Void 🏳️⚧️ @coherentvoid.bsky.social · 03/10/2026I mean I understand that nobody is kind to anyone in america these days, and we are all isolated. But get a cat or something. And btw, gen alpha is doomed if this is what they use all day in schools. 010
Em Void 🏳️⚧️ @coherentvoid.bsky.social · 03/10/2026Sometimes I must use the google ai search to get at something obscure that normal search cant find. Holy crap i cannot stand the idiotic way it phrases things, the incessant sycophancy, or the presistent nudging to ask more questions. How gone does a mind have to be to talk to this thing daily? 110
Em Void 🏳️⚧️ @coherentvoid.bsky.social · 03/10/2026Hmm. Looked back through my dream journal. It appears I have dreams about large scale fires a few weeks before the regime attempts some shockingly evil thing. Several times dating back to 2021. So, whatever that means. Protect yourselves. 020
Em Void 🏳️⚧️ @coherentvoid.bsky.social · 03/10/2026I think I'm past the first inertia hump for my cartoon. I'll have the plan, apparatus, and character sheets done soon. I'll need to start looking at voice actors for some of the parts. I can't do them all myself. 000
Em Void 🏳️⚧️ @coherentvoid.bsky.social · 03/10/2026Had a dream that massive fires in Los Angeles were creating large heaps of ash raining down in Austin. Woke up to sweet gentle healing water rain. 050
Em Void 🏳️⚧️ @coherentvoid.bsky.social · 03/10/2026Oh yeah it ended up way off the premise. The first season had some darkness to it. It's like a different show by the end. But later on I think of it the same way I think of Scooby Doo. Another season and scooby would have probably shown up as an ancient one. 110
