Okay friends, it’s time to begin Phase Two of Operation: What’s Next. I’ve officially dusted the cobwebs off my ancient LinkedIn profile and I’m asking for a little help from the hive mind.

Fairly assessing a decade of one’s own work is a fascinating enterprise. Take, for example, digital footprint—in this case, there is a single potential buyer, but a ton of opportunity cost. How do you value these things?

I wish we still had an America that wielded the power of principles, instead of one that relishes in the naked principle of power.

Say it with me, friends: The ends don’t justify the means. They never have, and never will. Allowing yourself to think otherwise is how you lose your soul and moral centre, piece by piece.

Fentanyl isn’t a weapon of mass destruction. It’s not a weapon. It does, however cause massive destruction. Trump’s declaration that it’s a WMD to justify the use military force against a “weapon”, when there are many other tools to use.

Forget trans people in sports, we need to monitor spelling bees and math olympiads for Tylenol doping. Isn’t that the very definition of unfair advantage?

End of day three in the hospital for Influenza A + Pneumonia + Asthma = breathing crisis. O2 blood sats are still only 95% with oxygen support, but the infections are clearing and I showered myself today. Huzzah!

I try do equal labour around the house and in parenting, emotional and otherwise, but also demand to be equal in setting standards and priorities. Women have a lot of social conditioning to let go of, too.

Kid finds a nearly 20 year old meme shirt in my closet. Loves it. Chose to wear it to school this morning. Is he cool? I think he’s cool.

Sometimes there’s alternate versions of songs that just change your brain chemistry. Maybe it’s a remix, maybe it’s an acoustic version, but there’s something about it a connect with a deeper place. What’s one of those for you?

In my twenties, there were two music-related minor mysteries that were simmering in the back of my mind: 1) How the hell did Mae Moore end up opening for Morrissey in Vancouver in 1993? 2) How did Spirit of the West end up on a Wonder Stuff album? Yes, I have niche interests.

A stinking broken freezer, complete political exhaustion, frustrating health issues. And yet, I just checked and my business is up ~60% YTD over same period last year. It's still really early in the season, but holy crap! This might just be the year I've needed to have since COVID hit...
