Honestly, with how some webcomic websites going with Ai or becoming very scarce, personal websites for creators to post their comics on would be the best route.

Finished writing the rough draft of the text and dialogue for Chapter 1 of “COEXISTENCE” and will continue working on the updated character designs, new character sheets and then start learning the beautiful process of creating the coding for the Visual Novel! More to come soon!

For context: This is “Purple Rainbow” a webcomic I’ve been developing since 2020, starring a Queer, Neurodivergent BIPOC couple who manage their longtime relationship while dealing with the trials & tribulations of life. Here’s cover & first episode page for a taste of what to expect!

Cover page for “Purple Rainbow” with Asanté holding up Teddy’s head in a Yaoi Manga style couple’s cover.

An alarm clock chimes before a coyote’s hand reaches out to turn it off. The sun shines through the where Asanté compliments the beautiful day! He then proceeds to cuddle up to Teddy who slowly wakes up.

Me too. It definitely sounded like they chose the diversity bingo to make it flop on purpose for being “woke”. Yet the world building got me interested in seeing more! Unfortunately we won’t have that. So for the time being: All Hail Indie Animation 🙏🏾😌

Honestly I didn’t feel too forced to my eyes. I liked how his family supported him to the point even the Grandpa was supportive which caught me off guard! Plus his gay identity wasn’t a plot focus, only his dream of being an adventurous explorer was. And that made him multidimensional

Yup! That’s definitely another part to Treasure Planet not doing well: not being marketable enough for kids to like SciFi animation instead of musicals

Yeah the songs weren’t at “Lion King” level. It’s a beautiful story but don’t reach the peak according to super fans of Lion King.

It’s why Strange World flopped so hard from one part that it had a gay protagonist who isn’t one dimensional and felt more like an inspirational character, but also because Disney is still dealing with their PTSD from SciFi films flopping back in the 2000s

COEXISTENCE VN & PURPLE RAINBOW Webcomic @coexistvnpurpcomic.bsky.social · 07/03/2026

But sometimes the underdog movies that don’t have much recognition get a lot of love from fans who saw them as kids because it was new, it was fresh! Yet Disney was hurt by the box office results of their SciFi movies (minus Stitch) that they’re risk adverse from that genre

It was a time when Disney & Pixar were experimenting with new genres in the animation medium. A few were successful (Lilo & Stitch, Incredibles, Monsters Inc., The Emperor’s New Groove) while others weren’t (Treasure Planet, Atlantis, Brother Bear) in terms of box office numbers & audience reactions

I started using Qobuz recently and it’s been a great music app that can play songs in various frequencies from CD to MP3 quality! And it’s only $16.99 a month. Plus you can merge your playlist from other platforms like Spotify, Apple Music and/or YouTube music
