Got to test out the new phone mount for the Celestron for the first time with a video recording of the moon. The slight drift in the has a different cause, but the mount made recording this actually tenable.

Pre-Eclipse

Photo of the full moon as seen from a telescope. The moon is partially out of the eyepiece and isn’t perfectly spherical.

Prism Moon

Processed image of an almost full moon, taken around 2:30 AM on October 5th. The image is a blended stack of a few edits, mostly making the texture of the surface of the moon more visible and the surrounding fog more diffuse and much more saturated.

The image was taken through a 20mm eyepiece on a Celestron Astromaster 114.

Photo of the hazy full moon taken through a telescope, with the lens slightly off centre out of focus, making the moon look not fully round and with a blue termination line encircling it.

Playing around with camera settings, focus, and different lenses. There's some blemishes on my phone's camera, so the images aren't as clear as they possibly could be. I'll need to find a solution to that eventually.

The same telescope was used for these pictures on the night of March 13th and 14th for the lunar eclipse.

I think I might use this account just for space images and astrophotography. Owning my own telescope now, I'll need the space to place space someplace. As you may see, the telescope is a Celestron Astromaster 114. I have quite a few lenses for it to try out still. Everything will be through this.

Photo of a waxing gibbous moon, as seen magnified through a telescope. Craters are quite visible and much more detailed than as seen by the eye.
