Well, by a similar token, <mark> could come unstyled... :) TBH, I have often used <fieldset> as a convenience element. And whenever I needed to style fieldset I found it quite flexible and obedient. Wondering what scenarios are not being handled without 'appearance: base'

Same here. But wait: Temporal has already been shipped in FF, it's only missing in Safari/WebKit, so why is it mentioned within the Firefox for Developers initiative?

I'm thinking about the decision tree from now - when public, when private... Probably models/input/output/view|contentChild.ren will have to remain public, otherwise private will do.

Oh yes, this IMO is definitely an improvement. Now the popup could be centered vs the icon and would not feel so odd anymore. However, the very moment another icon lands into the dialog, I would aggregate the help into a single icon + popup.

Showing tooltip over the button would feel weird, my first reaction would be it is a bug. On the other hand the icon outside feels a bit detached from the object that help pertains to. I'd rather have the icon global for the entire window, even if it only shows help for one button.

Often times I'd rather have 2 CSS panels instead of CSS + JS. For a pen, you often need some supporting styles - usually grouped into a layer by some Pros out there, but this is still not very managable (involves a lot of scrolling). I wish there was such a workspace template.

Btw, may I ask you, does anchor positioning work for docking second sticky to already stuck first,? As in: .second { position: sticky; top: anchor(--first bottom); }

@github.com Could you make the tabs on a PR (Conversation | Commits ...) a second sticky toolbar? Would also be wonderful to have View Deployments popover accessible from there when it is stuck. It could replace the red-green lines diff info if you ask me. Thanks.

Position sticky stuck state - already there, but subpar. There's still a lot to be done in this area.

This is also where multiple position stickies could benefit. Stacking them responsively on mobile and desktop would be much easief if they could be teleported to a different container when stuck.

The sign looks like grid-template-rows: repeat(5, 1rem) minmax(0, 1fr); gap: 0.20rem; Btw need to check if lh unit is stable for use in grid measurements.

I hope the experience around 'position: sticky' elements will get as much attention as scroll-driven animations receive today. I come from SaaS business where good control over stickies is crucial. Today it's a PITA to deal with multiple stickies on a page (menu+toolbars+table hdrs) × resolutions 🙄

Sorry, something has mangled my message. What I meant was: ...to express the coordinate values for position: sticky. And in this snippet --my-sticky-nav was obviously also a sticky element. Having Anchor API work with stickies could save us from using cascades of magic numbers.
000
codeofarmz.bsky.social @codeofarmz.bsky.social · 03/04/2026
Unfortunately, it doesn't work to express position: sticky. Not a big deal when you have only one such element on a page, but with multiple + responsiveness, you'd like to be able to say: position: sticky; top: anchor(--my-sticky-nav, bottom);

At my company, together with UX, we've run some tests with this new balanced wrap options, and the results were immediately rejected. In most of the cases it broke these virtual optical guidelines by starting to wrap much earlier.

can be tough as well, if impossible. In fact using z-index to control things can often destroy the solution, `isolation: isolate` - I didn't find it useful here. But I've been much more successful with scroll-state than with starting-style.
000
codeofarmz.bsky.social @codeofarmz.bsky.social · 14/03/2026
Of all the recent CSS features I've been mostly using scroll-state. To get it working can be tricky because container queries only act on descendants, so it can require specific HTML structure. While :after :before are also descendants, forcing them behind (as for toggling horizontal shades)
