We must reflect on the importance of culturally safe, equitable health services, including specialized Indigenous foot care & diabetes-related foot health awareness. Nearly 3X the rate of lower-limb amputations in First Nations and other Indigenous populations — we must address these disparities.

This month is a reminder to all healthcare practitioners and providers to create inclusive, safe spaces for patients with visible, invisible, or non-visible disabilities. In 2019, the Disability Flag designed by Ann Magill began to circulate in July. It was revised in 2021 to its current design.

Disability Pride Month recognizes the diverse identities, experiences and strengths of people living with disabilities. It spreads awareness about the challenges faced by the disability community & promote representation across professions & communities to foster a more inclusive, equitable society.
In 2019, the Disability Flag designed by Ann Magill began to circulate during Disability Pride Month. The flag was revised in 2021 to this current design.
