I will admit to intentionally demolishing a Bee Gees song with my kids for the Worst.Song.Ever contest A fair reading of “I Started a Joke” is that it’s written from the perspective of Satan, so I think I can be excused for this

Thank you, Oreo, for every morning greeting, every comforting purr, every lap you chose, every lesson you taught without saying a single word, and for showing us that the very best educators come in all forms.
You will always be a cherished member of the Cabot Preschool family, and your classroom will always miss its most devoted paraprofessional.
A special thank you to the O'Connor family for sharing their beloved kitty with our school community over the years. Oreo brought so much joy to our students, staff, and visitors, and we are grateful for the many memories he helped create.

The cat got a longer obituary than I will

DEIMOS "OREO"
As we start this school year we all notice the absence of a long time friend around the school yard and particurely in the primary building. For those who may not know, Oreo passed away at his home with his family in late June.
In Memory of Oreo: Our additional Classroom Paraprofessional
By Kira Peirce
Every school has people who quietly make a difference. At Cabot Preschool, one of those enough for everyone.
"people happened to have four paws, a tuxedo coat, and a heart big
Oreo was far more than a school cat. He was like and additional classroom paraprofessional.
He arrived every morning ready for work, greeting children with gentle purrs and calm acceptance. He instinctively knew when someone needed comfort, sitting beside a child who was having a difficult day or quietly joining a group as they played. He never interrupted a lesson, but somehow always became part of it.
Oreo helped teach kindness, empathy, responsibility, patience, and respect. He gave children opportunities to practice gentle hands, soft voices, and compassionate hearts.
Some of our most meaningful conversations about
feelings, friendship, and caring for others happened because Oreo was there.
He welcomed every child without judgment. Whether they needed a smile, a cuddle, or simply a quiet companion, Oreo always seemed to know exactly what was needed. He made our classroom feel safe, warm, and loved.
His impact reached far beyond our preschool room. Students, staff, families, and visitors all knew Oreo. He became part of the fabric of our school community and reminded us that learning isn't only found in books and lessons-it is also found in connection, compassion, and unconditional love.
The loss of Oreo has left an empty space that cannot be filled. Yet his legacy lives on in the children whose hearts he helped shape and in the countless memories he gave us.

Made a shelf dealer for the turntable so it’s no longer in the corner where all the bass goes because I was stupid before and am somewhat less stupid now Kind of a prototype, as I should have beefier brackets and a heavier shelf, but who am I kidding? It’s going to serve for a long while
A turntable is on a wall-mounted shelf above a receiver and tape deck. A daisy rock guitar hangs behind. Everything looks washed out by light from above. There are wires and crap on the walls

Money is corrosive to politics, and you are no exception, because your interests are fundamentally incompatible with those of the great majority of humankind data4democracy.substack.com/p/money-does...
Consider another example: When Vice President Kamala Harris's campaign endorsed a budget proposal including a 25 percent minimum tax on unrealized gains over $100 million—a policy affecting perhaps 10,000 of the wealthiest Americans-billionaire Mark Cuban publicly threatened to oppose her. The campaign, which had officially endorsed the policy, suddenly went silent and refused to comment when pressed by reporters. For context, 10,000 people is roughly the number of Americans who own pet tigers. A presidential campaign would not immediately backtrack if Joe Exotic claimed the country would never financially recover from a tax on tiger breeding. But when Mark Cuban made essentially the same self-interested argument, it carried real political weight.

We normalized the worst people in the world, and now we are very shocked by what they are doing with power
"The appearance of Federal law enforcement agents on the doorstep of news reporters should shock the conscience of any American who believes in the Constitution and the press freedom it protects. Our journalists report the facts and advance the American public's right to know how their government is operating and their taxpayer dollars are being used. This brazen act should be seen as nothing more than an attempt to prevent the public from knowing what is happening in their country by intimidating journalists from doing their jobs."
