I wanted to do something to memorialize my kitty that I lost last week, and I was leaning towards a portrait. But after sitting back and reflecting on his absolutely insane comedic antics, I realized a portrait wouldn't do. He was a living, breathing cartoon of a cat, so now I have this. I LOVE IT.

Today, I read something that really resonated thru the grief of putting my cat to sleep. It said that we love them so much that we take their pain away and make it our own. And for some reason, those words helped. Not much. But some. And that's a start.

Today, I met an absolute stranger at the grocery store who lost his dog this week. I told him how sorry I was and that we'd lost our little Bingles. He wrapped me in his arms, and we just stood in the self check and cried. It helped to know we aren't alone.

The vet gave me a vial of hair after he passed for Blaze, his brother. She said cats can smell it on the fur so they know they're gone. We let him smell it when we got home. He then did a happy dance in the living room. God, we needed that laugh. Bless that asshole.
