This photo of Eleanor Roosevelt flying with Chief Charles Alfred Anderson, taken by photographer P.H. Polk in 1941, was instrumental in convincing FDR to activate the Tuskegee Airmen in WW2. She was a fierce defender of equality and justice. An example to emulate today!

100% agree! We turned our boy on to the humor of Bill Bryson in family reading night. This was his assignment on author quotations in the 4th grade that I recently uncovered in some files. His teacher loved it! She rocked and fostered the love of reading in her kids at whatever level they were.

If you are able, take ten minutes and submit a public comment regarding Health &Human Services‘ attempt to f*** around with the gold standard for the schedule for childhood vaccinations. The last day to submit is September 20 because the Measles Man is trying to rush this through.

Perhaps these canons have already been shared, but just in case not, these two are at Castillo de San Marcos National Monument in St. Augustine, FL, built by the Spanish and the oldest masonry fortification in the continental US.

The great thing about being a book hoarder is that you almost always have a copy of that book everyone’s talking about buried somewhere. 1991 printing.

Cleaning up and clearing out the basement like you do when you retire and have time on your hands. Found this blast from the past (1991). Does anyone remember getting Utne Reader in the mail?

Lovely purple Spiderwort planted by a squirrel gardener a few seasons back. Not sure which neighbor’s garden he stole the rhizome from. ☺️
