Cobalt @cobaltmusic.fi · 09/06/2026I was supposed to just build this one specific simple modular generative patch that I was gonna use for a project but ended up accidentally making drum n bass 011 1

Cobalt @cobaltmusic.fi · 16/03/2026finally getting around to putting the finishing touches on this lmao 011 1
Cobalt @cobaltmusic.fi · 14/03/2026oh yah bud i know how you feel, i've been addicted to this for the past couple of weeks. friend and i made a modpack that we've been playing on. mekanism is our current technology mod. i made a nuclear reactor and a 5x ore processing chain 200 2
Cobalt @cobaltmusic.fi · 28/02/2026finnish culture (ostakaa makkaraa) meets indian culture (the bansuri flute) 011 1
Cobalt @cobaltmusic.fi · 13/02/2026it's just a normal option i can tick in the VM settings. but it's not like you really need 3D acceleration for FL. I use the VM exclusively for FL, everything else including gaming and video/photo editing I just do in linux 030 3
Cobalt @cobaltmusic.fi · 26/01/2026wow I haven't touched fl since february of 2025 lol anyway here's a 30 minute rough sketch of some 303 acid rally house 101 1
Cobalt @cobaltmusic.fi · 09/01/2026not only did they get back to me, they sent me the whole 7 page PDF specifying EVERYTHING in the transformer from the tech specs to even the physical construction of the thing mackie also has a publicly accessible archive of ALL their products' manuals free to download, discontinued or not 011 1
Cobalt @cobaltmusic.fi · 07/01/2026baby finally got new tuning hardware, saddles, and strings. she sings beautifully now :) I haven't played in years so I'm very rusty but it's all coming back. I think I did a shit job with tying the strings to the tuning posts? but they hold and they work so I guess it doesn't really matter? 011 1
Cobalt @cobaltmusic.fi · 05/01/2026so I got a half-amp 250V slow blow like the chassis said, turned it on, and the fuse blew immediately. didn't even get a blink of a light on the front panel, so I'm thinking the problem is either in the power supply board or the transformer - I'm leaning towards the latter 111 1
Cobalt @cobaltmusic.fi · 31/12/2025thank hell that that is over with. but the thing is, I finally got the main PCB off and checked all the caps and they all seem to (at least visually) be brand new. I have no idea why this thing would keep burning fuses. maybe the previous owner didn't use slow blows like the chassis says? 111 1
Cobalt @cobaltmusic.fi · 30/12/2025thankfully, the smallest bit in this generic chinese "your brand here" screw extractor set I bought did the trick. it felt kind of magical just seeing the screw come out so easily haha these things are getting replaced with slot screws ASAP because fuck phillips head screws lol 101 1
Cobalt @cobaltmusic.fi · 29/12/2025oh christ... was gonna remove the PCB from the front panel but these motherfuckers used torx 6.5? is that even a bit?? all my kits only have t5, t6, t7, and t8. t6 is too small and t7 is too big 😭 101 1
Cobalt @cobaltmusic.fi · 29/12/2025have to be careful when lifting the front panel after removing the screws holding it down, because the PSU is held at the bottom so there are wires running between the two halves. the voltage selector switch and grounding are attached via nuts. luckily, no glue on the connectors this time! 101 1
Cobalt @cobaltmusic.fi · 29/12/2025bought this Mackie 1642 VLZ3 mixer for 50€. seller said it keeps burning fuses. here's hoping it's just an obviously-bad blown capacitor or something, because I don't really have the know-how of how to troubleshoot electrical stuff 101 1
Cobalt @cobaltmusic.fi · 27/12/2025oh yeah, update on this: the body of the guitar has cracked along the bridge holes, causing it to bunch up and push up the bridge as a result. there isn't really anything to be done to save this guitar. only salvageable things were the tuning hardware which I yoinked 001 1
Cobalt @cobaltmusic.fi · 25/12/2025jeeeez... remember how one of them had a bunch of black tape on the top part? I took it off but none of the adhesive came off with it. I've been scrubbing this thing for nearly two hours now with copious amounts of IPA, and I'm still only like 70% done. I'll finish this up later 001 1
Cobalt @cobaltmusic.fi · 25/12/2025finally starting work on the second one of these! I saw signs of someone else having been in here before, some of the plastic tabs holding the connectors were broken. judging by the amount of dust, that looks to have been a long time ago! it's had a long life and I'm gonna make it even longer 101 1
Cobalt @cobaltmusic.fi · 22/12/2025oh yah, bud. 5 out of the 6 tuning posts are cracked. about time they get replaced. new parts probably arriving after christmas so can't do anything more to it for now 101 1
Cobalt @cobaltmusic.fi · 21/12/2025there's a bunch of solidified grime on the fretboard. gentle scratching with a plastic shiv cut out from a card to loosen up the dirt, then some mild general purpose cleaner as well as scrubbing with a microfibre cloth cleans the fretboard up pretty well 101 1
Cobalt @cobaltmusic.fi · 21/12/2025ah. maybe it's not in such a good shape as I expected. the saddle is cracked too thankfully, however, despite being founded in 1942, Landola is still making replacement parts! I'll get new tuners too while I'm at it. a new nut, saddle, and mechanics comes out to a total of just 38€ 121 2
Cobalt @cobaltmusic.fi · 21/12/2025oh, as I was taking the strings off, half of the nut just comes off lol 101 1
Cobalt @cobaltmusic.fi · 21/12/2025this means it's in a good condition, just needs a bit of cleaning. the only cons at the moment are the cloudiness in the body, the ancient strings (in its 37 year long lifespan they've never been changed!), and the nut is broken, leaving the D string intonated 101 1
Cobalt @cobaltmusic.fi · 21/12/2025oh yeah, since we're on the topic of guitars, I might as well fix up my old Landola. Landola is a finnish guitar manufacturer started in 1942. my specific one is from 1987. it hasn't been played much ever since I got it, and it's always been stored in a room temperature, dry place 101 1
Cobalt @cobaltmusic.fi · 21/12/2025idk a single thing about strings so i don't know if these are good or bad but might as well get new strings for it since they're only like 15eur per pack and I will likely be able to sell the guitar for more than that when it's done 101 1
Cobalt @cobaltmusic.fi · 21/12/2025after a lot of manual scrubbing with toilet paper, the fretboard looks a lot better. couldn't quite get all the dirt right next to the frets, but overall it's not bad 101 1
Cobalt @cobaltmusic.fi · 21/12/2025tried a bit of IPA on a toothbrush and then scrubbing with some toilet paper on the fretboard. the IPA takes off a bit too much material and removes the wood texture. that's a mistake but I don't really mind as the MSRP for this guitar was just $100 to begin with. it's a learning experience 101 1
Cobalt @cobaltmusic.fi · 20/12/2025picked up this Fender Squier SA-105 for free. the bridge has started coming off. reckon it could be fixed with just some wood glue? 101 1
Cobalt @cobaltmusic.fi · 14/12/2025yeah! yeah that's a bit better :) couldn't get the surface to be perfect because there was just far too much grime caked onto it. goes to show you you gotta take care of your gear and it'll last so much longer. it's better tho! 101 1
Cobalt @cobaltmusic.fi · 14/12/2025tested it thoroughly, and everything works perfectly with no crackles anywhere! the outputs are nice and clean, and the pots feel good to move 111 1
Cobalt @cobaltmusic.fi · 14/12/2025the previous owner had somehow bent the channel 2 fader pot. no problem, gently bent it back with some pliers 101 1
Cobalt @cobaltmusic.fi · 13/12/2025god DAMN it's so shiny now lol used the exact same exposure settings between these two photos lots of scrubbing with IPA and a toothbrush 101 1
Cobalt @cobaltmusic.fi · 12/12/2025smoke test successful! I'll continue working on it tomorrow since I've gotta head to bed soon 101 1
Cobalt @cobaltmusic.fi · 12/12/2025condolences to whomever has to replace the power cord next. I tried to make it as easy as possible to remove it in the future; I angled the wires down and then put electrical tape on them. removal should be as simple as remove tape, heat the pad with a soldering iron, and pull out the wire 101 1
Cobalt @cobaltmusic.fi · 12/12/2025auuuggghhhh, boss definitely didn't intend on anyone servicing this thing. power cord is just directly soldered in as I suspected, as is everything else. no connectors anywhere, I'm gonna have to keep the PCB near the bottom part of the case because I don't fancy taking out the PSU and transformer 101 1
Cobalt @cobaltmusic.fi · 12/12/2025someone's definitely been in here before me. there are random screws in random places, some are missing, and this one was just flat out only half screwed in. I'm gonna go to the hardware store at some point to see if I can find replacements 101 1
