This particular bird was special as, unlike all the others, it was very indecicive about its migration route and flew circles over Central Europe...

To the birding community: one of our GPS-tagged redshanks was predated during its migration in France. We would be very greatful if we could have the GPS tag back and get as much information as possible from the bird! This is the last position: maps.app.goo.gl/jCWDXDfhnJPT... @genmig.bsky.social

📢 happy to share our new paper in @molecology.bsky.social Common chiffchaff subspecies diverge in the same migration-related region as willow warblers (see thread): onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/...

Common Chiffchaffs (<fi>Phylloscopus collybita</fi>) Diverge in a Genomic Region Associated With Migration Differences in Willow Warblers (<fi>Phylloscopus trochilus</fi>)
Despite technological advances in both tracking and sequencing technologies, finding the genetic mechanisms behind migratory traits remains a challenge. Recent studies have shown that migratory direc...

How did the spotted pardalote get so spotted? I think this is a reasonable explanation ☺️🐦 a tiny bird with a big personality from Australia!

Who thought that this project would end up in an actual book people can by in shops? I am very happy that the book is out there now and I hope that many will join the journey of the robin on its way south :)
