IHT seems a distraction from serious discussion of a wealth tax. The obvious path forward is to impose an annual wealth tax and remove IHT. Done right this would be fairer and more defendable.

When time travel is invented and they can go back and stop PA members attacking policewomen with sledgehammers

Arrested for breaking the law is not the same as murder.

Love to hear your rationalization of that statement as the two situations could not be more different.

Funding gaps can be filled many ways so maybe wait for the plan to be clear rather than helping Reform with this kind of scaremongering

Weird take on fairly normal concerns about growing trade imbalance.

The other 4 …. whoops. In 2008 I dont think keen was an MMT proponent or using the method to predict crisis ( private debt level which is very classical economics )

Neil @cneilc.bsky.social · 01/10/2026
2 secong google search …… Roubini, Pettifor, Keen, Rajan, Burry, etc., etc. all none MMT adherents ( as are 95% of economists ) all predicted the crash. The only MMT predicted crowd is about as right as the MMT crowd.

Agree, they should be banned too. Violence has no place in protest.

Neil @cneilc.bsky.social · 01/10/2026
She was arrested for supporting a banned organization whos members have attacked police officers with sledgehammers. She can protest genocide freely but she wasn’t doing that.

What is the big deal on the Man City comments ? Seem very benign.

Neil @cneilc.bsky.social · 01/10/2026
There is a reason why only a very small minority of economists buy into MMT … it would destroy the economy.

Yeah, Murphy doesn’t understand economics either.

The actual proposal removes triple lock but guarantees inflation protection but dont let facts get in the way of your performative outrage.

Neil @cneilc.bsky.social · 29/09/2026
Removing triple lock does not reduce pensions ( setting pension increase below inflation would do this but nowhere is that being discussed ) …. at least try to understand the subject if you are going to comment on it. Name calling is sooooo mature.

Sure, funding social care will do that. Sure, sure

Your quote was "Today, he’s having Rob arrested under the Terrorism Act for holding a piece of paper.

Neil @cneilc.bsky.social · 28/09/2026
Nobody is arrested for holding a piece of paper. They are arrested for showing support to a proscribed organization.

Thats not why he was arrested. Is lying necessary to make your case ?

Attacking police officers with sledgehammers is not protest. Supporting a banned organization is illegal - protesting is not. That the pensioners decide to knowingly break the law rather than protest the issues is a choice they make unde influence of bad actors who conflate the two things.

Pensioners are being arrested for supporting a banned organization not for protesting the issues you mention. Reform level misinformation.

It is NOT about values and beliefs. It is a technical question not a cultural one.

No, active PA members did so it got banned. If UK gov starts using sledgehammers on policewomen something will be done no doubt.

Where did I say this ? Disagreeing with you / Bernal on “legitimate concerns” in no way implies this although I understand the use of slurs to avoid addressing substance ….. Reform / Restore do it a lot.

Understanding "Legitimate concerns” – and how to differentiate them from those with no legitimacy - British Future
Following the PM's conference speech, Sunder Katwala examines the difference between 'legitimate concerns' and those with no legitimacy.
100
Neil @cneilc.bsky.social · 03/09/2026
The tragedy is that you dont see that by framing legitimate concerns this way ( as opposed to framing racist motivated ones as illegitimate concerns consistent with the British Future framing ) you are just helping Restore / Reform by driving the division they thrive on.
200
Neil @cneilc.bsky.social · 03/09/2026
Sure that is what is happening
200
Neil @cneilc.bsky.social · 03/09/2026
Read some of the work by British Future to understand why your definition of legitimate concerns ( presume you are referring to Starmers use of it at Conference ) as cypher for racism is problematic. Reform / Restore probably love it as it helps polarize the public.
