Renewables now generate more than one third of global electricity and are the least expensive resources for new builds in the U.S. (IEA 2026; Lazard 2026). They are projected to make up the majority of new global electricity generation added each year (IEA 2026).

As the 10th Annual Clean Energy Legislative Academy drew to a close, our cohort of state legislators reflected on what they’ve gained from the Academy and the opportunities they see for developing #CleanEnergyPolicy in their states in the next legislative session.

The final day of #CELA2026 began with a presentation from Bryan Willson, Executive Director of the Energy Institute at Colorado State University on AI and innovative research, including emerging nuclear and enhanced geothermal technologies, methane emissions control, and quantum computing.

Our last full day of #CELA2026 concluded with a discussion of a critical policy issue facing the nation, #EnergyAffordability. Rachel Gold from RMI spoke to about increasing costs of energy and the suite of policy opportunities available to state legislators to mitigate costs for their constituents.
