Perhaps the article completely mischaracterizes the nexus between politics and religion since centering Christianity has been prevalent across race.

Remove Freddy Haynes -- a Black Baptist minister -- and this really is about White democrats centering religion. Black politicians are and have been deeply embedded in Black churches for generations, without needing to make them a centerpiece.

Democrats must get more vocal in condemning this prosecution, which is both politically motivated and vindictive on the part of the Trump administration.

My heart goes out to this young lady. Every Black woman knows what this feels like-to be surrounded by those who wish you harm+ no guarantee of societal defense- your spine stiffens as you become hyperalert- a horrid feeling, esp if you're physically smaller. Honestly, partly why I started muay thai

🧵 4 years ago, SCOTUS overturned nearly 50 years of established constitutional protection for bodily autonomy. The Dobbs decision opened the floodgates to draconian abortion bans across the country. Today, abortion is banned in 13 states and severely restricted in many more. (1/3)
Graphic showing where abortion remains legal and protected, where it's been effectively banned, and which states have expanded access.

In the aftermath of the 2024 election, Black men were blamed for Democratic losses, yet the data show a different picture. While Black vote for the Democratic party at lower rates than Black women, their support remains higher than that of Latino, Asian, and white voters across gender.

We find that Black men’s Democratic Party support remains strong, but modest shifts toward conservatism as a political ideology are partly explained by these gendered and ideological attitudes.

The United States has gone back, as far as Reconstruction. What was left of the Voting Rights Act -- which made the United States the closest its ever been to a democracy -- is weak. States can rig the rules and suppress Black voters now, more than ever before.
