Two pages of a tiny zine. The first page says, I had trouble with the phrase "nontraditional." Strictly speaking, I wasn't even a typical nontraditional student. I didn't have a full-time job or kids, and I didn't delay my education, just this education. But surely once people found out I was 25, they'd assume things about me. The second page says, I was humbled many times as I worked on this degree. I joined the student newspaper, where my 19-year-old editor had a better handle on all things journalism than I did. My style in college was "aggressively comfortable," so I was actually concerned less with looking like an English major and more with showing that I was a college student. played 1812 Overture today and just want to share this note from my music director from before we started rehearsing this program. cannon-related misinformation in the orchestra fandom

It has come to our attention that there is a rumor circulating suggesting that we will be using cannons, or simulated cannon fire, during our upcoming performance of the 1812 Overture at the public school. To be absolutely clear, this is not the case. At no point was the use of cannons or any type of cannon sound effect discussed, proposed, or approved by anyone associated with our organization. Please help us dispel this misinformation by confirming, if asked, that no cannon of firearm effects, real or artificial, will be used in the performance. We remain committed to a safe, appropriate, and musically rich experience for both performers and our school audiences.

here's a page from the zine that is all about how I graduated from library school last year, lol (it's a Sarah Shay Mirk template btw: www.patreon.com/posts/year-e...) 📚

Written underneath is, I didn't walk, everything came in the mail. In the top right it says, and I said goodbye to, and there is a drawing of a large blob with curly hair in a ponytail and a melting face. The text says, job security, goodbye student jobs. Across the bottom of the pages, it says, one way I changed is. I wrote, became someone with a full-time job, then crossed it out and wrote below, came to terms with the fact that the library job market is harsh and unrelenting, even when you have a decade of experience.
