Love that Hunter Biden did all this goodwill podcast touring just to launch a fucking crypto coin. Can we please get all these self-centered shitheads out of politics forever

All the people so worried about Platner becoming Fetterman really haven't ever listened to him speak. No political candidate is a guarantee - anyone can lie after all - but I don't think the oyster farmer marine is at all similar to the trust fund guy. Just don't seem to be similar backgrounds

I think unfortunately it probably can be reversed. Just like all those former comrades in Germany, most of the people in this movement only associate out of benefit. They'll leave the zealots to suffer the consequences and grift to the next version of "conservatism"

If I say I think the Dems need to do better as an opposition party the dumbest segment of Bluesky will take that as me supporting Republicans somehow lol

I think Democrats have come to rely on that "moderate" demographic - hence all the centrism over principles tendencies - but that a moderate political only really votes in this country when they are excited to do so (see Mamdani and first time voters)

cmorge.bsky.social @cmorge.bsky.social · 10/12/2025
This is like when people say Mamdani are unrealistic or poorly constructed. Sure, maybe. But the current system is so broken and the elites seem so against it changing that radical change feels like the only option. So yea these things suck about universal healthcare, but nothing is changing o/w

No. I just don't think the Republican party can be fixed so why bother complaining. They just need to be in prison/not in office.

This would require Dems to want reform. Which it seems like they often don't as their donors are quite comfy as is.

I worry that the world is on fire as is. And that the people making the most money spend a lot of it to maintain it as is. And that scares me. That the people with the most money in the world would rather be the fanciest guest on the Titanic than be 2nd class on a cruise that makes it.

What's very funny about the NYC mayoral election is the party full of people who believe in personal gains and freedom to do so above everything else, asking mayoral candidates to step aside for the "greater good." And then they're shocked when everyone chooses the self-interested option lmao

My favorite part of 2025 is watching a super stirring clip of Corey Booker dressing down a Trump lackey for their lack of backbone and ethics, and then reading a week later how he voted "Yes" for the "Birthday Cake and Strippers White House Budget Bill" the next week lol

OL depth seems like a real issue for the first time in a while for a team built around it - how many injuries can the Eagles sustain at the role and still be SB contenders, and are there any "break glass in case of emergency" effective contingencies?

Want to use rich people like me to your advantage? Incent us to help those who need it the most. Lower corp taxes for comps that pay a min of $25 per hour. Lower corp taxes if employees get stock at the same pct as the CEO. Bottom up incentives work. Dems never innovate. They bitch

Feeling that the Epstein files are a good referendum on politics right now. Trump and co lying through their teeth and Democrats taking a victory lap on an issue they made no attempt to tackle while in power. I just want politicians with consistent views and priorities

It's really confusing watching the Trump world melt down over the Epstein files. Not that the lies on this one aren't bad, but like they don't seem much worse than any of his other ones???

I voted for Kamala because I saw the threat of a second Trump presidency. I also understand why people sat out the election - my plan was to do the same when Biden was running. If you'd like to blame voters instead of running good candidates, we'll end up with Vance 2028. A very sad world

cmorge.bsky.social @cmorge.bsky.social · 08/07/2025
Exactly. We have to actually have open dialogues. We're all Americans. Even if you think every person who voted Trump is racist, they're not, it's not like they're going anywhere. It falls on everyone to get through to people and get them to care about each other.

Blatant corruption from one does not excuse subtle corruption from another. Nuance is required in this sphere unless we like the "both sides yelling at each other" environment we seem to have built in the last 15 years

Both sides gerrymander. But yes the GOP does it's very best to suppress voters. She lost the same election that Biden won in 2020 (who also would have lost) that Obama won in 2012 and 2008. I mean she just lost and it wasn't particularly close

cmorge.bsky.social @cmorge.bsky.social · 07/07/2025
I think this is a very simplified version. But yes I think that Biden brought normality back. But I think the country did little to actually combat the cause of Trump - and I think there was a little too much "we beat him and now he's gone forever"

That seems to be closer to where I fall nowadays. The biggest question I struggle with is how to develop a white line for market intervention. Too much defeats the point. Too little creates monopolies and unfettered billionaires. Where is the line and how do you determine it?
000
cmorge.bsky.social @cmorge.bsky.social · 07/07/2025
Ok no comparison needed! Fact 1 - Republicans are committing crimes against humanity right now. Fact 2 - Democrats are unpopular and their inability to win elections against fascists speaks to them not having their shit together I can agree with both and neither need to be linked. Better?
020
cmorge.bsky.social @cmorge.bsky.social · 07/07/2025
The Democrats are not responsible for the fuckery going on right now. To be clear, we agree on that. They ARE responsible for losing the election. And I want them to take steps to not lose the next. The thought of JD Vance being president is so gross - spineless sycophant that he is.

It's a struggle for me because I started as a libertarian. But I've seen what "libertarians" do and find it to be self-serving in practice. I'm very in favor of the idea of limiting the scope of the government. But I also think some modern problems are too big nowadays for anything but that.
000
cmorge.bsky.social @cmorge.bsky.social · 07/07/2025
I guess I watched Dems run into procedural issues and go "there's nothing that can be done." And now I watch Republicans get shit done at all costs. And it's very frustrating. I don't think you break the constitution like this administration is doing. But I think they could have done more
000
cmorge.bsky.social @cmorge.bsky.social · 07/07/2025
The only policy criticism I have off the top of my head is the lack of enshrinement of issues that are now being attacked (abortion, immigration, etc) While it was hard to accomplish everything with Congress, I feel as if plenty were acting like Trump was gone and the GOP would go back to before
000
cmorge.bsky.social @cmorge.bsky.social · 07/07/2025
Yea I saw that. I think Elon is a real POS. I think most of the people that support him are Trump voters and I look forward to him spending money to sabotage JD Vance in 2028. Seems like another "Tea Party." Another offshoot of the GOP that won't accomplish much

I didn't see an endorsement of Musk or any other billionaire in my post. I think Mark Cuban means well. I also think absolute power corrupts absolutely. We need empathetic leaders to get out of this - not centrists with corporate backing.

cmorge.bsky.social @cmorge.bsky.social · 07/07/2025
It's only a false equivalence if I'm saying both suck and therefore suck equally. My point is the Democrats enabled this to happen with their actions. Doesn't mean the people actually doing the actions aren't evil and need to be in prison. Just means the "opposition" needs better leaders.

I agree, but I think there is room right now to see who is willing to fight for their values, and who folds when its easy to do so. What Trump is doing is horrible. Would he have been able to do it if Schumer and other had stood up against funding it?

I think if centrists were the winning idea right now, youd still have the Republicans putting out candidates like Jeb Bush. I think the world and economy are in a state where a progressive is the move
