A sign of the times. “Our lettuce is safe!” Oswego County, NYS.
A sign outside of a business in northern NUS that reads, “Our lettuce is safe.”

Feeling some kind of way about this OG vegan joint ending its run after 18 years in Syracuse. 💔 Thanks for the delicious food, good vibes, and righteous vegan moxie, Strong Hearts. Let Love Rule.

Eerie orange sky and the most dangerous AQI we have ever experienced. Grateful to have the means to buy an air conditioner and air purifier. Worried about the animals and folks who don’t have access to protections or shelter. Be careful out there, good people.
A map of NYS illustrating the AQI or air quality index. It’s 500, “…a health warning of emergency conditions.”

Spring blooms at Salt Road Farm. Peonies, valerian, poppies.
Pink peony in full bloom

Flowering valerian. White inflorescence on tall green stalks. Dead ash tree in background.
Salmon colored poppies. Third year white peony bush finally in full bloom. About a dozen blooms.

Mood.
A single, flattened work glove on busted gravel roadway, the arrangement of which looks like it’s flipping the bird.

Tough for Kenya but this model of floral wholesale is unsustainable. Since the pandemic, the availability of local, seasonal flowers has blossomed. When you buy from a flower farmer, or florist who uses only local flowers, you are guaranteed fresh picked, low/no pesticide, in season blooms.

Who do you pay to feed you propaganda? Which anti-democratic media do you prop up?

Greetings from the outhouse. Here’s your reminder that over 500,000 rural and urban US households do not have indoor plumbing. Why? Rising cost of housing, unaffordable water bills, lack of access to clean water, and inadequate infrastructure. But sure, spend billions on an illegal war. #No$4War

Trump, his Heritage Foundation handlers, tech sector sycophants, and raging racist administration seek dominion over everything. You. Your movements. Your access to care, education, jobs, safe drinking water, air, food, public lands. They want subjects not citizens in a participatory society.

Boycott companies paying for the destruction of the people’s house. No respect this country or the rule of law from this GOP administration. While Vought, Miller, and the GOP wreak havoc, Trump builds vanity projects and watches TV. Profit over people and the planet every chance they get.

Beautiful people from a so-called red county showing up for Lady Liberty, democracy, peace, justice, safety, and freedom. Standing in solidarity against taxation without representation, hatred, state repression, wealth inequality, propaganda, extrajudicial killings, and Christian Nationalism.

I find social media a difficult place to share personal stories. Since joining, I’ve been stuck in a cycle of reposting what feels most urgent. Not good. When I was teaching, I felt compelled to be “in the know” about politics and culture. These days, I simply want to hide among the flowers.

This. Have a plan that goes hard from day one. Forgive student loan debt. Reinstate federal funding for medical and university research, the arts and humanities. Restore experts to the CDC, OBM, BLM, FBI, CIA, HSA, SSA, etc. Abolish ICE. Stop arming Israel.

Now or never… have this conversation with your representatives and a friend or neighbor. Keep talking about this GOP plan to bankrupt the US, kill the environment, hunt down and jail people, endanger seniors citizens and push more people into poverty to enrich their billionaire donors and friends.
