Los #sellos son fundamentales en la diplomática (estudio de documentos oficiales). El uso de sellos, como los de Carlomagno (siglo VIII-IX), aseguraba la autenticidad y evitaba falsificaciones. Los archivos catedralicios, como el de Toledo, conservan estos documentos.

Los sellos como garantía documental En la Edad Media, obispos y reyes autenticaban documentos con sellos de cera. El sello de Carlomagno, con la inscripción Christe protege, validaba tratados y cartas. Los archivos catedralicios guardaban estas joyas de la #diplomática medieval.

Los #scriptoria eran talleres de escritura donde monjes copistas producían manuscritos religiosos y también organizaban y preservaban documentos administrativos y legales. Cluny (Fr.) y Montecasino (It.) son ejemplos destacados por su producción documental en los siglos X-XII.

The National Historical Archive (Madrid) houses the #cartulary of the Temple, a medieval handwritten codex on parchment that transcribes documents between 1117 and 1175. It was preserved in the Archive of the Order of Saint John of Jerusalem that integrated the Aragonese #Templars. AHN,L.595
