Listening to Senator Tillis on @morningjoe-msnow.bsky.social this morning. What a pathetic weasel. Talking about how Hegseth should’ve been vetted when I was his job. Claiming that because he got out of the committee with full support that he wasn’t gonna be alone voice voting against him.

Then I would suggest you are not paying attention. Does your college have an anonymous student social platform? At Smith it’s called Confesh. I suggest you take a look. This is not just going on at Smith. My daughter has friends at colleges across the country reporting the same kind of thing.

I think you’re wrong. People didn’t know and that’s different. And yes, the GOP are horrible because really it’s nobody’s business but again it’s just like what happened with euthanasia, something doctors discussed with families and took care privately until somebody made it a political issue.

Yeah, yeah but he happens to be right on this point. He said Trump not Hegseth or Blanche or Kennedy. If you keep diminishing and excluding your allies, then you lose elections. I don’t like him, but there are lots of folks in this country who consider themselves moderates who need to be team Blue

You’re personifying the problem. Intention matters, humans make mistakes. Leftie holier than now social mobs aren’t progress. I get it on this platform when I disagree with people. I’m a lifelong progressive. Voted in every election since I was 18 but that’s not enough for purists and word police

Don’t remember. All I remember was the Board was reviewing her presentation and said her intention didn’t matter, it didn’t matter if it was a mistake. that she should’ve magically known better and therefore she was socially ostracized, shunned and trashed on the schools, social gossip platform

No, it wasn’t. It was a theater group and she was doing a history of racism in the theater. And she wasn’t using the word herself. It was a quote. Point being, instead of having a discussion, they said it didn’t matter if it was a mistake or what her intention was. It was pathetic and disgusting.

Sorry, but my daughter is a Progressive LBGTQ Community member who in making a point about racism in historical context offended someone. Rather than expressing concerns about using the term, she was shunned and ostracized because her peers were more concerned with PC than her intent to educate.

Not the case. My daughter is a Progressive member of the LBGTQ Community. She used a term in historical context as part of a board review for an org presentation to make a point about the history of racism in that org. Instead of reviewing the work & suggesting she not use that term, she was shunned

Perfect examples of woke1 hysteria. My daughter is a Progressive member of the LGBTQ+ community. As a board member of a student org, she prepared an org presentation for board review. She used a term in context addressing historical racism to make a point. She was shamed and ostracized.

Rock is correct. I’ve witnessed what my extremely progressive daughter has experienced at Smith College where shaming and ostracism by self appointed keepers of acceptability creates a culture of fear and silencing. This is a valid criticism of liberal arts colleges across the country.

You’re confusing reality with perspective. It doesn’t matter how the public perspective got there. What matters is what it is. Yes, it has to be moved, but that’s a colossal education and activism effort. And like the pot legalization, it’s generational. Eventually, most people won’t care.

Well, you can live in that world and you can lose power and then the trans community will be fucked just like every other marginalized community. MLK had no illusions about ending racism in the short term. What he wanted was a legal structure that protected Black people.

That is exactly what it means. That was the intent of the people who started using that phrase. Just like “from the river to the sea.” that may not be what you mean when you say it, but it’s what Jews hear when you say it.

Yes, because he wants to get elected and 70% of people in this country don’t think that trans girls and women should play on girls and women sports. So when that number goes down to 45% then the politicians will shift gears and moving that needle is the job of public education by activists.
