We joined Natural Resources Defense Council and National Consumer Law Center to file an amicus brief to promote adoption of affordable water bill programs—like what we have here in Philly.

We had to use this scene from John Oliver’s recent appearance on Days of Our Lives to share the good news about an important settlement in a federal lawsuit against Cleveland Water for discrimination.

PA SNAP recipients are one step closer to more secure cards! The latest state budget includes money to switch EBT cards to chips cards, which are far more secure than the current swipe cards. This change will help prevent millions of SNAP dollars from being stolen through skimming devices.

In 1996, Louise Hayes graduated from law school and set her sights on working at CLS. But her dear uncle lovingly advised her to go work for a big law firm for a few years instead. She spent a weekend thinking about it and wrote a letter explaining her career goals.

CLS worked with homeowners who were promised small cash payments if they used MV Realty if they chose to sell their home—but were instead tricked into signing mortgages that required them to pay MV Realty thousands of dollars for any transfer of their home over the next 40 years.

Loan servicers are set to start sending out notices on July 1. After receiving this notice, you will have 90 days to switch to a new repayment plan. Otherwise, you will automatically be put on the Standard Repayment Plan, which is often significantly more expensive than other repayment options.

The Department of Education has strongly urged borrowers to submit their consolidation application by April 1 to ensure the consolidation is complete by the July 1 deadline, so if you have not taken action yet, you should do so as soon as possible.
