I think that's down to Tech Bros legitimately being that one guy you'd never invited to anything as deep down we collectively knew they just sucked at whatever the hobby was. They also intentionally sabotaged said activities in a "If I can't do it, nobody can" type of mentality.

I really did like that episode. Lower Decks' second to last episode really pulled out all the stops for their guest cast, and alternate Mariner was a fun contrast to her usual self (Plus everyone's favourite Ensign getting to go nuts).
