Happy Caturbasket Day to Everyone! Ren in Manhattan, circa 2008. This basket is now used for storage under our bathroom sink in Vancouver. I like to think that his DNA is imprinted on it.

A peacock longing for a snack outside a cafe at the San Francisco Zoo, as seen in a photo from a trip from Vancouver in November 2015. I've been several times, and it's one of my favourite cities in the world. Miss it.

There are many crows and ravens in our area all year round. They really are amazing, super-intelligent little dinosaurs and simply wonderful to be around. I find myself speaking with them often and have experienced the pleasure of their company. Edgar Allen Poe moments indeed.

This is outrageous. Considering a First Nation company logged these trees, even more so. I live next to Stanley Park in Vancouver, where there is logging going on, and I act as an advocate for environmental issues. I've also seen truly incredible ancient trees during my travels. Leave them alone.

When I lived in Manhattan, I flew to Chicago several times to wander the city, photographing special things I happened to discover on every block. Thanks for reminding me how much I loved being there.

Update: After some research, I discovered that Lakina and Balzac were recently moved back to Quebec and are now at the Point Defiance Zoo and Aquarium in Tacoma, Washington. There are currently, and most unfortunately, no sanctuaries for captive-born walruses. I will always miss them.

Fausto is a rescue cat from the SPCA in Vancouver, and he looks just like a glossy black panther. He has all of the characteristics of a Bombay breed. I had previously volunteered with a street feline rescue group in Manhattan for nine years and have had several adopted/fostered rescue cats.
