Smashed the record time of an escape room today and looked cute doing it!

My wife, my sister-in-law, and me with an absolutely not fake robot cat that says clem bot on the top. It’s a bit like K-9 from doctor who but a cat. We all look very pleased with ourselves.

Our new to us dining table arrived today. It’s our first since the fire in 2013 and my first that isn’t glass and chrome with leather chairs (chosen by my mother). I’m already looking forward to dinner!

It turns out our new house is the perfect venue for a shadow puppet theatre. I am really enjoying finding the magic in our new space and having our smallest friends here all weekend was just lovely.

It’s Christmas on-call for me and night shift Christmas for my wife. I’ll mostly be either working, pootling about in the West End or watching Christmas films with the cat. It will be lovely and a bit sad which feels like an appropriate 2024 Christmas. Also I have so much chocolate!

Who can be married in Scotland
Any two persons, regardless of where they live, may marry in Scotland provided that:
• both persons are at least 16 years of age on the day of their marriage

We started our Advent at Church this morning by reflecting on this poem by Emily Dickinson. However you spend this season, learn to see.

We grow accustomed to the Dark -
When Light is put away -
As when the Neighbor holds the Lamp
To witness her Good bye -

A Moment - We uncertain step
For newness of the night -
Then - fit our Vision to the Dark -
And meet the Road - erect -

And so of larger - Darknesses -
Those Evenings of the Brain -
When not a Moon disclose a sign -
Or Star - come out - within -

The Bravest - grope a little -
And sometimes hit a Tree
Directly in the Forehead -
But as they learn to see -

Either the Darkness alters -
Or something in the sight
Adjusts itself to Midnight -
And Life steps almost straight.
