I was asked to check out whether a story about Germany giving Ukraine an entire power station was true. Well yes is the quick answer. But it's not a new story - see Welt's reporting in May, which I mentioned at the time. Handelsblatt's report (Left) is new - I assume Ukraine is now using it.

The 3 most senior members of Ukraine war team went to visit and congratulate the team behind the ongoing Operation Vivaldi, which is recovering ground around Lyman. Zelenskyy, Def Min Khmara and Cmdr-in-Chief Drapatyi gave medals to the 66th brigade + other units of the 3rd Army Corps.

Ukraine managed to shoot down 5 ballistic or similar fast targets out of about 14 during the night. Of drones, air defence intercepted 155 of 188. Minimum success rate 82.4% Only 18 places were hit, but some multiple times.

112 drones were fired by Russia during the day today. Ukraine stopped 77 of 83 regular Shaheds (min 92.8%), and 18 of 29 jet drones (min 62.1%) At least 2 drones were still flying. So, the maths says a maximum of 15 hits but that information was not disclosed.

Ukraine's Ombudsman confirms this video as genuine, protesteing to the UN + ICRC. It's said to show Russian military, having removed their uniforms, using the elderly, infirm & kids, as human shields as they retreat in Kupiansk. Ukraine's troops filmed this but withheld fire.

1/2 Russia is -1 military plane. Difficult to tell from the wreckage but it's presumed to be a Tu-95 It crashed in the far east of Russia, in the village of Krasnoyano, in Amur Oblast.

Ukraine intimates it shot down all 3 missiles fired by Russia, one Zircon and 2x Iskander ballistics. However reports last night suggested around 6 missiles were launched. Air defence also stopped 106 of 152 drones - min 70% success, but actually much higher with many still flying.

I'll start with Russia's daily losses which after yesterday's 2nd highest ever total of killed/maimed invaders, slips back to 1,440 more casualties in the last 24 hours. That means September's total equals July's in 3 fewer days, and July was the 4th highest ever casualty count.
