I see what it can do for good every single day - and it can be spectacularly good. That’s why I know that it will do for bad actors will be VERY bad. Your argument is if it can’t do good stuff very well then logically it can’t do bad stuff very well either so what are we worried about.

Arguably, the model does possess intent - it’s programmed not to say “I don’t know” or “Statisically, this is improbable but it is possibly correct”
010
CllrAndyOddy @cllrandyoddy.bsky.social · 28/09/2026
A more realistic one would be “lying”. It is deliberately misleading because, particularly in LLM models, it is programmed to do so rather than to say, “I honestly don’t know” or “there’s an x% probability this is is incorrect”

AI is very good for good actors. It’s going to be very beneficial to bad actors and it is not anywhere close to being under control. If it were a 3yo toddler it would be spending a lot of time on the naughty step!!

And people rarely challenge AI findings or AI actions - it’s like teaching a toddler they say, it needs to learn boundaries. Yeah, well toddlers push the boundaries but they don’t have the future of humanity as a potential consequence of its parents not enforcing those boundaries adequately.

A doctor operating in that condition gets suspended - a machine “oh it’s AI and it will hallucinate”. No, it’s not - it’s programmed to give you an answer based on probability. When it gives you that answer it doesn’t give you the probability score yet too often it’s below 1% - basically it’s lying

CllrAndyOddy @cllrandyoddy.bsky.social · 28/09/2026
Couldn’t agree more on the theft of language. My own personal pet hate is “hallucination” for when AI makes stuff up. Hallucinating is what happens when one or more of your 5 senses is not functioning 100% and you see things that aren’t there, aren’t real, are made up. Ai doesn’t have any senses!

It’s totally practicable. Introduce subscriptions. Prove ID to high standards. No ads and no malign algorithms. That AND make the platforms accountable for their content. Do the latter, the rest would probably have follow as a means of enforcement by the platform anyway.

Just ban all online advertising on Meta, Google, X and TikTok platforms in the uk. It would be amazing how many societal problems would fade away. Ads need views and clicks, views and clicks drive revenue, need for revenue drives extreme polarised content because it generates more views and clicks.

I think this is the pivotal campaigning issue for progressive parties, even the Tories, to latch onto. Not just Farage but anyone in Reform. Everything about them is doom and gloom, what they don’t like and absolutely zero vision about what a Great Britain looks like.

The two crypto donations to Reform are, I submit, noise to generate a backlash with out any intention of being paid (or at least to remain paid). The govt was very clear on 25th March 2026 that any laws on funding would be backdated to this date so the donors and Reform both know full well this…

I’m fully expecting the residents, now citizens, of Piddington to demand access to the free market within the UK, be a signatory to its customs union so as to avoid punitive tarrifs and allow freedom of movement across the Common Work Area . Oh and higher taxes to pay for bought in public services.

Which is far more of a societal problem worth addressing than arguing about whether those who do get a reasonable pension should/should not pay income tax.

5/ WHY do we keep falling for it? It is getting more and more evident that marketing is the root cause of so many of the things that are wrong in the world. All about money. Money matters, people don’t. The wake up and dawn of realisation will come - one day. Batten down the hatches when it does.

4/ It plays well with Reform’s base. It gets support from some eejot journalists/presenters who repeat the “unfair, it’s not British” mantra being pushed by Reform. Its marketing. It’s in the same vein as Sydney Sweeney’s ads designed for maximum noise, maximum brand awareness…

CllrAndyOddy @cllrandyoddy.bsky.social · 15/09/2026
3/ So, Reform know the rules will be changed and know they will be retrospectively applied. Ergo the “donations” are designed to create maximum noise against the “biased, unfair establishment”. The same old “they’re all out to get me” narrative we hear time and time again from Farage.

I do know the answer is housing density - planners insist on maximising beds per square metre on any site. It’s just annoying I can buy a 4 bed detached house for £450k around here but a 4 bed modernised detached bungalow to the same standard is nearer £600k
010
CllrAndyOddy @cllrandyoddy.bsky.social · 07/09/2026
Why are there so few new build bungalows? The fact is the scarcity pushes the price up of those that exist and means you typically pay about 30-50% more for the same square footage of property. It discriminates against older and disabled people who want single story living but also want a garden
