A meticulously detailed account of the thousands of landing ships and landing craft of various types, and their brave crews, that made such an enormous contribution to the success of the D-Day landings. #histbookchat #BookHistory

A fascinating book about those friends who stayed loyal to Churchill throughout his ‘Wilderness Years’ and went on to serve in his wartime government as some of his closest but sometimes very dubious advisors. #histbookchat #BookHistory

This was an exceptional read. The incredible story of four extraordinary and very brave men who fought together in various theatres in WW2 and went on to serve their country officially and unofficially in some very dangerous situations for most of the Cold War War #histbookchat #BookHistory

A misleading main title as the book is actually about both the 1944 ‘Market Garden’ and the 1945 ‘ Varsity Plunder’ Allied operations to cross the Rhine. The former a famous failure, the latter a great success. An insightful and detailed account of both operations #BookHistory

A fascinating, hereto untold story of the railway workers & engineers that paid such a huge part in ensuring the Allied forces could maintain their drive through France and on into the heart of the Nazi Reich after the Normandy landings in 1944. #BookHistory

December 13, 1941: Battle of Cape Bon, 4 Allied British destroyers sank two Italian light cruisers and a torpedo boat. Almost 2K tons of aviation fuel was lost with it. At this point, I think Rommel was more concerned about the loss of the aviation fuel than the ships. #worldwar2 #history
