I remember as a kid, the go to response for tragedy was I'll keep you in my prayers. Very seldom were there offers of help or intentional proactive action. It's always been a cop-out. Religion enables self-righteousness, ignorance and historically a lot of violence.

"America, you in danger girl!" So many people are going to suffer. So many heartless heathens cheering this on. History does repeat itself.

I often find myself asking how we got here, but I know the answer to that question and it is this:

None of this normal. Don't let folks around you normalize any of this.

Looks like even the GFS model has had it with politics and suggests dumping 38 inches of snow at the end of the month to cool off DC. Oh GFS, you're funny. (Disclaimer, model runs this far out are not reliable, this is not a forecast.)

And there it is, on schedule with Project 2025 - H.R.899 - To terminate the Department of Education. It has 27 cosponsors too. This is all well orchestrated legislation from the masterminds at Heritage Foundation and their 180 day play book for Project 2025.

As I've now taken to scrolling through new legislation introductions on the daily, I saw this one and I just can't. H.R. 691: To designate the Washington Dulles International Airport in Virginia as the "Donald J Trump International Airport". They are all just lining up to appease their master's ego.

After a long week, made some cocktails with imported Irish egg nog. And of course had to use the moose glasses.

A throwback to the AMS Annual Meeting in January of this year talking about my favorite topic, sea ice. This December I'll be heading to AGU24 to talk about changes in moist advection over western Greenland resulting from Arctic sea ice decline. Poster coming soon.

Holding down the fort at University of Delaware's annual Coast Day in Lewes, DE. Loved teaching kids about albedo and urban warming. Had a few climate deniers that tried my patience, but hopefully I changed some minds.
