💰 The game-changer is revenue. The ETS has generated over 200 billion euros in the last two decades! Member States must stop fragmented spending. We need these revenues systematically directed into structural solutions: industrial electrification, grid infrastructure, and EIB-backed guarantees.

What about removals and credits? ❌ International credits should stay OUT of ETS compliance to prevent oversupply. ⚠️ Carbon removals must have a strictly limited, targeted role for truly hard-to-abate sectors. Only permanent, tech-based storage should count. 🙅‍♂️ No temporary sinks.

On carbon leakage, the transition from free allocations to CBAM must stay on track. Delaying the phase-out of free allowances under the Fit for 55 package will only slow down the market adoption of low-emission, European-made products. 🌍🚢 #CBAM
