Wildlife populations have declined by an average of 73% since 1970. But this is not inevitable. @wwf.org.uk new Living Planet Report shows that when action is taken, species can recover. We need to put nature first 🌍💚 Read the report: brnw.ch/21x6gwH

Roughly 40 river charters have happened since the first - that of Sussex River Ouse, which became the first river in England to have its rights recognised by a local authority in Feb 2025. More here: www.theguardian.com/environment/... #CleanWaterNow

While the EU is at least tabling a complete ban on these toxic chemicals, no such thing is happening in the UK. 👉Nothing less that a total ban on toxic PFAS is good enough.
031
ClientEarth @clientearth.bsky.social · 28/09/2026
PFAS have been linked to many negative health impacts in humans & animals, including cancers & impaired foetal development. What's been discovered in Thornton-Cleveleys is the tip of iceberg of PFAS pollution in the UK. People are slowly realising the damage done to them over years of exposure.
121
ClientEarth @clientearth.bsky.social · 28/09/2026
These chemicals can be found in endless everyday objects from cookware to outdoor clothing. But they take decades, if not more, to break down in the environment and as a consequence are entering into water systems and soil.

🩸People living near a chemical plant in the UK have high levels of toxic PFAS chemicals in their blood🩸 Residents of Thornton-Cleveleys in Lancashire live near the AGC Chemicals factory. Now, after testing, the villagers have been told they have high levels of PFAS in their blood.

At #UNGA we expect heads of state & govts to act on the ICJ's Advisory Opinion on climate change:   1. Deliver a managed fossil fuel phase-out 2. Treat ecosystem protection & restoration as security infrastructure 3. Align budgets & public finance with climate & nature security imperatives

We had five heatwaves in Europe in a span of a few months. Unprecedented wildfires and droughts have displaced thousands and disrupted entire industries. What more needs to happen for governments to treat ecosystem destruction and the climate crisis as the security risk that it is?

Recycling matters, but it can't be presented as the only answer to plastic pollution. ClientEarth v Nestlé Poland goes to court for the first time on 1 October.
030
ClientEarth @clientearth.bsky.social · 21/09/2026
We argue claims like "100% made of recycled PET plastic", "made from another bottle", and "recyclable" can create the misleading impression that single-use plastic bottles are part of a closed recycling loop.

ClientEarth @clientearth.bsky.social · 21/09/2026
This year, UOKiK has taken action over potentially misleading environmental claims by companies including Allegro, DHL, DPD, InPost & L’Oréal Poland. Now, the authority has submitted a formal opinion to the court in our case challenging recycling claims used to market Nałęczowianka bottled water.

🔍Companies making green claims should be paying attention. Poland’s consumer watchdog, UOKiK, has formally weighed in on our case against Nestlé Poland, just weeks before its first court hearing.

We aim to: 👉 Highlight that authorities in charge of these MPAs are obliged to effectively protect them 👉 Ensure they complete seabed habitat mapping & adopt effective management measures to comply with EU nature laws 👉 Require them to do necessary risk assessments & adopt protective measures 4/5

ClientEarth @clientearth.bsky.social · 09/09/2026
Though Italy’s MPAs cover around 11% of the country’s waters, just 1% of them are effectively protected. This means many areas home to marine species (including bottlenose dolphins), seabed and sea meadows that should be protected from harmful practices like bottom trawling are not. 3/5
166
ClientEarth @clientearth.bsky.social · 09/09/2026
Bottom trawling involves dragging large, weighted nets across the seabed to catch commercially valuable species that live near the seafloor. It causes habitat destruction to vital and fragile ecosystems like reefs and Mediterranean seagrass and negatively impacts the ocean as a carbon store. 2/5

🐬📢 We're taking action against destructive bottom trawling in Italy📢🐬 With our partners Legambiente and the support of @bluemarinef.bsky.social, we’re urging the authorities to take steps to avoid the destruction of MPAs and protect their vitally important marine habitats and species. 1/5

This win proves that when 1000s of people raise their voices together, even a global banking giant can be pushed to change course. But the fight isn’t over. JPMorgan Chase remains connected to Saguaro. ClientEarth USA & partners will keep pushing financial institutions to stay away from it. 4/5

Yet in some countries, people have to fight through confusing rules to make this happen. Five years after the EU deadline, Poland and Hungary still make energy communities very difficult to set up. 3/4
130
ClientEarth @clientearth.bsky.social · 30/07/2026
Energy communities make that possible. People can come together to produce, use and share renewable energy locally – cutting bills and relying less on volatile fossil fuel markets. By combining solar and wind, households could save up to €930 a year! 2/4

ClientEarth @clientearth.bsky.social · 30/07/2026
You shouldn’t need to own a house or have your own solar panels to benefit from clean, affordable energy. People living in apartment blocks, tenants, local businesses and public services should be able to benefit too 🧵
