I saw Resident Evil! Fun and full of screeching and splatter, but I don’t remember seeing a film SO terrified of pregnancy that it outright denies the pregnant character an on-screen presence before. The very ending fumbled both the pathos and the scare for me, but Austin Abrams u are everything

I kinda blame the dominance of action comedies (+ superhero fare) for this. every genre above a certain budget becomes part of a big cinematic soup of sameness. nothing too scary, no protagonists too monstrous.
