It was a beautiful North Carolina day at the Celebrate Fuquay-Varina Festival today. Volunteers and candidates at the Wake Democrats tent stayed busy talking with voters about the importance of electing Bill Harris as Mayor, and Bryan Haynes and Kris Vorren to the Board of Commissioners.

Reflecting on the tragic news of the mass shooting event in Southport, I recall going to that same dock with my Grandfather to buy shrimp off the boats as they came in. My grandparents are buried in Southport and my family has been to that same restaurant and others in that area. We have to better.
