Maybe I'm just hallucinating, but I'd love to know if anyone else is noticing this. Something I've seen repeatedly lately is use of dashes to make compound words, kind of like this famous Onion headline in their Thurber-award winning book Our Dumb Century, "World's Largest Metaphor Hits Ice-Berg."

Here's a "Faculty Fellow in Museum Studies" job at NYU (the new name for "adjunct?") to teach 3 courses & run the internship program. PhD preferred + specialization in "decolonial theory." Salary: $60K, which as the AASLH shows is basically unlivable in NYC. (NYU tuition is $60k/year)
