Trump’s EPA is celebrating the “single largest deregulatory action.” What does that actually mean? Dirtier air, worse climate disasters, more health consequences, and higher hospital bills. California must double down on our own climate progress. There’s no other choice.
The Trump EPA's biggest rollback yet:
Repealing the legal basis for all federal climate regulations
Here's what it means for California ->The EPA has been able to regulate climate pollution because of the clear finding that greenhouse gas emissions endanger society. That evidence has only gotten stronger over time.

But when Trump pitched Big Oil executives to spend 1 billion dollars on his campaign, he promised to scrap climate protections, and this is the payoff. If it's allowed to take effect, this rollback will further enable polluters and worsen the climate crisis.

Experts are warning that it could result in trillions of dollars of climate damages and healthcare costs. This isn't over yet.

Environmental groups are taking this to court, and they have a strong case.

Meanwhile, California has long been a climate leader, and we're not stopping now.

We will continue protecting our clean air and clean water, no matter what. With each federal rollback, the stakes only get higher here at home.

Tired of your toxic situationship? Us too. ❤️‍🩹 This Valentine’s Day, we’re breaking up with Big Oil. Because if any person treated us like this, our friends would have held an intervention by now. Why should the Golden State have lower standards than us?
Dear Big Oil,

This is hard to write, but it’s long overdue. We’ve been in a relationship for decades now, and we’ve given you more chances than you deserved. You broke every promise you ever made — that you’d change, that you’d innovate, that if we just gave you another chance, you’d stop trashing the people and places we love. But the truth is, you haven’t changed. And you won’t.

You knew exactly what you were doing to our climate, our air, and our communities — and you lied about it. You asked us to sacrifice while you cashed record-breaking checks. You told us responsibility was “complicated,” even as you spent millions to block solutions and gaslight us.

That’s not a misunderstanding — that’s a pattern. So this is goodbye. We’re choosing a liveable future now, for ourselves — not the great future together that you keep promising is just around the corner, if only we’d give you more time.

Don’t call. Don’t lobby. Don’t pretend you’re the solution to a toxic situation you created.

Sincerely,
California
