BEATING HEARTS does not deserve all the effort and excellence of Adèle Exarchopoulos, Laurent Tangy and Jon Brion. Those three are giving it their all to a film whose inclusion in last year's Cannes Main Competition is genuinely baffling.

I'm trying to watch as much queer cinema as I can this Pride Month, and found "the earliest known adult film to incorporate bisexual and homosexual intercourse." Historical importance aside, 1920's LE MÉNAGE MODERNDE DE MADAME BUTTERFLY features what's probably the worst blow job I've ever seen.

The most important takeaway from watching Chimes at Midnight for the first time, aside from being astounded by literally every aspect of it, is how Bixby seems on his way to aging graceful into Welles’ gravitas, whiskers, heft, and charm. The resemblance is already so uncanny.
