I wasn’t gonna do the stringers on the top cover. Then I started attaching them anyway. This is literally all just for a gimmicky add-on for the side of another model. I get too into the weeds sometimes.

I must be out of my mind. I could have left the little spin vanes (the small fins) off but I couldn’t help myself. This thing, when done, goes into the big heat shield mounted on the side of Cassini. I still have to draw the back cover out and see if I can make it look better.

Some more progress. Still working on the antenna dish but I sat it on top to take a picture. The gold covered saucer is the Huygens lander heat shield, which I haven’t completed because I’m trying to make it where there’s a little Huygens inside.

I didn’t get a whole lot of building done tonight. I did draw some parts and learned some things, through the reading of an obscure technical report about a part they had to quickly tack on to a spacecraft 30 years ago because they realized the engine nozzles were fragile and susceptible to damage
