Claire Gilder @clarbar.bsky.social · 10hI mostly cheer for Mercedes in #f1, but I adore Ollie Bearman (Haas). Pretty sure he was a golden retriever in a past life. What an adorable, goofy man. 010
Claire Gilder @clarbar.bsky.social · 10hAhh yup. I don’t know what has thrown him & george so off their game these last 2 races, but I hope they each manage some points tomorrow and look more like themselves in Austin! 000
Claire Gilder @clarbar.bsky.social · 14hAnd, I bought it cheap because it was refurbished! I've replaced the toner cartridges twice I think. And that's expensive, but less painful when you consider I only do it every 5 years or so. 000
Claire Gilder @clarbar.bsky.social · 15hI have a wifi-enabled Brother MFC that does b&w, color, and scan (because I've had this printer since 2013). It sits quietly in the corner until I tell it to print something. And it prints it! And then goes back to sleep until I need it in a couple months. My only regret is it doesn't do duplex. 120
Claire Gilder @clarbar.bsky.social · 15hOur mortgage is a decade old now, and we have 4.25%. Our statements have a little info box showing “how much we could save if we refinanced now!” and it’s like -$150k. We can never sell. 🤷🏼♀️ 010
Claire Gilder @clarbar.bsky.social · 21hOurs won’t stick if you don’t. All the road grit and salt from the winter! it is so thick it can completely obscure your plate (you can get a ticket for that too!) 080
Claire Gilder @clarbar.bsky.social · 21hYou want me to get the postcard, login to a miserable website and follow instructions, then wait for 2 weeks, then clean my license plate and put on a new sticker? Ambitious. 2161
Claire Gilder @clarbar.bsky.social · 21hOkay, I got pulled over because. my registration sticker was 13 months out of date. But they let me go with a warning because when they looked it up, it was only actually 1 month overdue, I had just had the stickers sitting on my table for >1 year. 1170
Claire Gilder @clarbar.bsky.social · 10/10/2026I feel like once my cat is old enough to vote, there has to be another category. 040
Claire Gilder @clarbar.bsky.social · 08/10/2026Apparently your dog had a past life as a medieval model. 020
Claire Gilder @clarbar.bsky.social · 07/10/2026They want confirmation that this particular PT appt is not related to an accident. My dudes, he has had this weekly PT appointment for MONTHS. The previous week, you paid, the week after, you paid, Do you think he had a random injury between those two that suddenly needed identical PT? 000
Claire Gilder @clarbar.bsky.social · 07/10/2026Time to spend the better part of an hour on the phone with United Healthcare! Random PT appointment is not being covered, despite the ones the week before and the week after have a $30 copay. 100
Claire Gilder @clarbar.bsky.social · 07/10/2026Montana 1972 constitution does not play. It is an amazing bulwark between the citizens and our whackadoodle supermajority legislature right now (they want to call a convention SO BAD) 020
Claire Gilder @clarbar.bsky.social · 06/10/2026went with “roast a pile of random vegetables from the market” for dinner tonight. Zucchini, a couple tiny eggplants, handful of sweet red peppers, some cauliflower florets, quartered Roma tomatoes. Salt, pepper, serve over rice. Voila! Crisper drawer ready for CSA pickup tomorrow. 030
Claire Gilder @clarbar.bsky.social · 05/10/2026Saw this in the theater when I was a toddler.static.klipy.comRous Rodents Of Unusual SizeAlt: Rodents Of Unusual Size tackling Wesley in the fire swamp 010
Claire Gilder @clarbar.bsky.social · 05/10/2026Yup, this is how it works in Missoula. It was magic for cleaning out basement. My only complaint is when ppl put stuff on our corner that is broken and they just can’t fit it in their trash. No one will want it, they just dont want to deal with it. 010
Claire Gilder @clarbar.bsky.social · 04/10/2026So, either 1) the team has a low vaccination rate or 2) they‘re just in such close proximity so frequently that the virus eventually slips past the vaccine due to repeat exposure. That age of adult should have had 2 MMR doses by default. 110
Claire Gilder @clarbar.bsky.social · 04/10/2026That was *wild*. The text thread between my oldest kid & I was hopping. 000
Claire Gilder @clarbar.bsky.social · 04/10/2026well, this race is chaos and it hasn’t even started yet. They tried, but it was insane and the cars all had to be rebooted because they were going to slow. It was kinda funny? 000
Claire Gilder @clarbar.bsky.social · 04/10/2026We have a 120y/o house and now our policy is “call the electrician” for even the most banal, routine stuff because the shit that people have kludged together over the previous 100 years (once electricity was installed) is TERRIFYING. 0180
Claire Gilder @clarbar.bsky.social · 04/10/2026Didn’t stay awake for the Bahrain GP (but in Malaysia!) qualifying sessions at 2am. Hoping I can manage to watch the race at 1am tonight Because it promises to be chaotic and surprising. Fingers crossed for George and Kimi to get some points. 120
Claire Gilder @clarbar.bsky.social · 03/10/2026my oldest teen just asked me “do you know about the cat Miette?” Child, I was there. 161
Claire Gilder @clarbar.bsky.social · 02/10/2026Only 1 of my kids has ever used theirs, although my youngest almost did before we decided against that particular school trip. We could swing it financially, so we just decided to get all of the when my oldest needed his, just in case. 110
Claire Gilder @clarbar.bsky.social · 02/10/2026Probably by not having passports! International travel is a lot less common in the US than Europe I think. 210
Claire Gilder @clarbar.bsky.social · 02/10/2026A US under-16 passport is $135 and can only be renewed in person. 😭 Doing our 5-person family all at once was eye-watering a few years ago. 110
Claire Gilder @clarbar.bsky.social · 02/10/2026Yessss, make them spend money in Texas and Iowa and Kansas and Florida and Nebraska 030
Claire Gilder @clarbar.bsky.social · 01/10/2026Dude, it was so much easier to be a vegan in Texas than it is in Montana, even a decade ago. 000
Claire Gilder @clarbar.bsky.social · 01/10/2026Is he more likely to beat the R than the Dem candidate on the ballot? Yes. Is there any chance in hell of that probability coming to pass? Extremely unlikely, which means I don’t really feel like holding my nose & voting for him. 010
Claire Gilder @clarbar.bsky.social · 01/10/2026Yeah, I have complicated feelings. Do I like Bodnar? No. Would I dislike him less if he actually ran as a Dem and not an Indep? Maybe? Would he be better than the R? Yes, but only because the bar is in hell. 100
Claire Gilder @clarbar.bsky.social · 30/09/2026I’ve been getting lots of Bodnar (MT) phone banking newbies. “Do you plan on supporting Bodnar in the election?” “No.” <sputtering recalibrating> Their supervisor even called back later! “Just calling to clarify an earlier call, but how do you feel about Bodnar as a candidate?” “Poorly.” 110
Claire Gilder @clarbar.bsky.social · 30/09/2026My 17y/o has been filling me in on some of the tumblr CvR shipping excitement. It’s very…elaborate. (He says he has the mature filter on, so hopefully he’s not being too scarred for life.) 111
Claire Gilder @clarbar.bsky.social · 30/09/2026Lab reports are very basic and are handwritten. A student hand wrote “P = \frac(E)(t)” and “100\times12=1200” and “\DeltaGPE” in their discussion. (Basically, LaTex, unrendered.) What on EARTH. 000
Claire Gilder @clarbar.bsky.social · 30/09/2026Okay, new grading weirdness. Background: I TA an intro earth science class that often has a chunk of math-phobic or avoidant students. Latest lab was comparing energy and power and used running up a staircase at different paces to explore it. 100
Claire Gilder @clarbar.bsky.social · 29/09/2026Last trays of peppers are out of the freeze dryer, now 4 qts of posole verde and 3 qts of hatch green chile sauce are either in the freeze dryer or in the freezer waiting their turn. Next step is pureeing 20lbs of Romas tonight. 010
Claire Gilder @clarbar.bsky.social · 29/09/2026“how many romance novels could they read, anyways? One a week?” 030
Claire Gilder @clarbar.bsky.social · 29/09/2026But damn, there’s so much that we just live with because we cant drop the 100k it would take to open the walls and fix everything. 030
Claire Gilder @clarbar.bsky.social · 29/09/2026There’s a lot to be said for a new(er) property. The doors close! You don't have to know all the little tips & tricks to make the oven work! The water heater probably won’t break for a bit! I’ve lived in new build, 20, 40, and 120y/o houses, and I *adore* my downtown neighborhood and my old house. 140
Claire Gilder @clarbar.bsky.social · 28/09/2026I’m so glad you went! Because ear infections are things that little kids get and are generally innocuous at that age, everyone forgets that your ear is right next to your brain and spreading an infection there is So Bad. 000
Claire Gilder @clarbar.bsky.social · 28/09/2026Very “I just had a woman arrested in front of her child over $3600 medical debt, not $50!” levels of Not Helping Your Case, Man. 1857
Claire Gilder @clarbar.bsky.social · 28/09/2026Do you also have too much zucchini and or peppers and or onions And or tomatoes? Slice into rounds, layer slight overlapping/ pretty in a casserole dish, salt and pepper and garlic or whatever and roast until soft. Lazy ratatouille. 010
Claire Gilder @clarbar.bsky.social · 27/09/2026We do not have 5 sinks, and our basement does not have a concrete floor through the entire footprint. And while I feel weirdly defensive about it, my 120y/o house is not in Excellent condition. 020
Claire Gilder @clarbar.bsky.social · 27/09/2026Turns out, if your house has spent part of its life being switched back and forth from single family to duplex to (maybe?) triplex and back to single family, the property tax records can be kinda fucked up. Turns out you can petition to have them fixed and the part you overpaid refunded. 130
Claire Gilder @clarbar.bsky.social · 27/09/2026Currently at the ”vat of green chile sauce“ part of my weekend. 2nd set of freeze dryer trays (2 bell peppers, 2 chopped serranos) are in process. 020
Claire Gilder @clarbar.bsky.social · 27/09/2026Our household has been covid- and flu-proofed* for the winter *not quite, but good enough for government work. 030
