@gitlab.com , you should take over the site. Or make one in the same vein. The "99 bottles of beer" program is simply the best program to illustrate basic language features such as I/O, looping, and conditionals.

Fun Fact: Venezuelan Oil is known as "Heavy Sour" and the number of refineries that can process Heavy Sour oil in the USA is not enough to alleviate the fuel supply pressure. Trump's war is indeed proving to be very damaging to the USA. #PoliticalFootgun www.bbc.com/news/article...

US diesel prices hit an all-time-high
Fuel prices have soared since the Iran conflict began at the end of February, mirroring the surge in wholesale oil prices.

Key words are highlighted up there. "studied" because many times LLM would suggest something that doesn't work. "reimplement" so that the new knowledge becomes internalised. If not the (tedious) procedure, at least I *know* that for similar situations there's a method to achieve solution.

##LLM #ArtificialIntelligence is now good enough to do code review... as long as you don't take its word at face value. Like, yesterday #GoogleGemini (free version) identified what I was trying to do and suggest a better way of doing it. Which I *studied* first then *reimplement* on my code.

Is it possible to be both? A glacier collapsed, the debris flow rushing down steep incline and hit the valley wall across the path at nearly right angle, generating a magnitude 5+ earthquake. And this earthquake caused outburst of several glacial lakes nearby, adding to the volume of water.

A glacial collapse, rushing down steep inclines and hitting the valley wall across the downward path at nearly right angle. The impact was so energetic it registered as a magnitude 5+ earthquake. That probably triggered collapse of smaller glacial lakes nearby adding to the volume of water.

They didn't expect it to be so bad. They just thought it's a "usual flash flood", not an apocalyptic one.

Well at some points the water is rushing at 150km/h. I don't think you can outrun that ...

Excuse my language, but... This is fucking scary. The swell carried so much debris it's like a scouring pad, a polishing liquid. The "after" pics are totally horrific. Buildings, bridges, roads... 'erased' from the face of the Earth, leaving no traces of human civilization. #NepalFlood

Well, the original fork in Pomponio is already gone and the bridge on Albion is also gone. Whoever lived on South Albion there now has a very wide waterplane landing area 👍🏼

Seems LL is changing their mind about how the #TransSansaraCauseway will be built... #SecondLife #SecondLifeGeography So they added 3 new regions south of Albion and ended with this:
Bird's eye view of Trans Sansara Causeway, now implemented as an extension of Frog Road.

You can kind of see the terraforming already done toward the small island in the second pic. And to the East of the larger island, also some terraforming and some crossing surfaces already extending diagonally into the big Protected Land on South West Albion.

Claire M. von SecondLife @clairem.secondlife.bio · 11/08/2026
Seriously I totally didn't expect they will go underwater that way... I thought they will simply extend the road in front of Luna Mall and begins the causeway on Luna East. Hmm... I wonder what plans LL has for Luna East 🤔

And someone disabled water rendering and mapped out the undersea tunnel of #TransSansaraCauseway #SecondLife
Tunnel begins on the Luna region in front of the Luna MallTunnel punches through the South West corner of Okeanos, seemingly targeting the smaller island. Maybe it will emerge there and go up in a bridge before going undersea again.

Claire M. von SecondLife @clairem.secondlife.bio · 11/08/2026
It will ultimately connect to Frog Road via the south edge of Albion, and South West corner of Pomponio.

Oh wait someone actually looked around the Luna Mall area... and it looks like LL's making an undersea tunnel!
The Trans-Sansara Causeway on the Luna Mall side. It's clear it's a downward ramp leading into a tunnel.

Claire M. von SecondLife @clairem.secondlife.bio · 11/08/2026
Yeah they did take the suggestion to go down the south part of the northwest peninsula, and land on Luna. Awesome! That might breathe new life on the Luna Mall. Probably "A Causeway above the Clouds"?

1) They're not farming data not publicly available on SL already but never handed out in a simple way by LL. 2) All viewers -- like, every single one -- already save texture/mesh into their caches. 3) I've heard it's an allegation/accusation, from only one side, with no proof.

ALL viewers have the ability to "rip avatars". How else can they render avatars on-screen, otherwise? Viewers receive all the mesh objects, textures of the visible things, and so on. Let's ban ALL viewers, then 😎

Let's be clear: the SAVE America Act is a massive voter suppression bill. Full stop. This bill doesn't protect elections. It rigs them. By making it harder for millions of Americans to vote, the SAVE America Act is one of the most dangerous attacks on democracy I've seen in my lifetime.

There's a nascent #SecondLife viewer called #PyroKitty that's in development. It uses Godot as the rendering engine, and from the vids I've seen (from its devs) it renders quite well, and can even render mesh and rigged items! Look forward to it being launched!

Tomorrow's premium: The Hater's Guide To Anthropic, a company burning $8 to $13 for every dollar it makes selling Claude Code and burning billions of dollars a year. It needs $283bn to survive the next 3 years. Here's $10 off annual. edzitronswheresyouredatghostio.outpost.pub/public/promo...
Despite its positioning as the trustworthy, “nice” AI lab, Anthropic is as big, ugly and wasteful as OpenAI, and Dario Amodei is an even bigger bullshit artist than Sam Altman. It burns just as much of its revenue on inference (59% - or $2.79 billion on $4.5 billion of revenue, versus OpenAI’s $2.5 billion (62%) on $4.3 billion of revenue in the first half of 2025, if you use The Information’s numbers), and shows no sign of any “efficiency” or “cost-cutting.”

Worse still, Anthropic continually abuses its users through varying rate limits to juice revenues and user numbers - along with Amodei’s gas-leak-esque proclamations - to mislead the media, the general public and investors about the financial condition of the company. Based on an analysis of many users’ actual token burn on Claude Code, I believe Anthropic is burning anywhere from $3 to $20 to make $1, and that the product that users are using (and the media is raving about) is not one that Anthropic can actually support long-term.

I also see signs that Amodei himself is playing fast and loose with financial metrics in a way that will blow up in his face if Anthropic ever files its paperwork to go public. In simpler terms, Anthropic’s alleged “38% gross margins” may, if we are to believe Amodei’s own words, not the result of “revenue minus COGS” but “how much a model cost and how much revenue it’s generated.”

Anthropic is also making promises it can’t keep. It’s promising to spend $30 billion on Microsoft Azure (and an additional "up to one gigawatt”), “tens of billions” on Google Cloud, $21 billion on Google TPUs with Broadcom, “$50 billion on American infrastructure,” as much as $3 billion on Hut8’s data center in Louisiana, and an unknowable (yet likely in the billions) amount of money with Amazon Web Services. Not to worry, Dario also adds that if you’re off by a couple of years on your projections of revenue and ability to pay for compute, it’ll be “ruinous.”

I think that’s he’s right. Anthropic cann…

Sure. But hackers are lazy and they aim for low-hanging fruits first. "Human made" = there's possibility of vulnerability, but also very likely to have implemented best practices. "Vibe coded" = there's a CERTAINTY of Security Vulnerability. If you have to choose on which system to hack, which?

Thankfully I'm able to switch over to Linux completely. No dual-booting, even. Though I do understand that some people have something they really *need* that has no counterpart for Linux. Luckily, all I *need* are available on Linux.
