I am heartbroken. Such a shock and tears every day. Lucy was doggie number six since our first two rescues in 1980. All much loved.

Yes Peter, unfortunately her last day and all the decisions and actions are being replayed and reviewed. What ifs… It is awful and much worse than most of our other dogs. Perhaps because I am older and spent so much time with her. Sure you are feeling the same.

Still tears every day. We are touring Holland and meeting doggies every day. We even met an Airedale like Lucy today. Brought on the sadness but lovely to pet one again. Its owner let me take him for a few moments.

Thanks, finding it hard to tell people I meet what the situation is. Sure it is the same for you. Going away on a jaunt soon that was planned to include Lucy. So very sad. Even Bella, our daughters dog who has been with us is out of sorts.

Same with our previous rescue Airedale Holly. Unexpected and sudden. Neither of them suffered for long. Both characters and well known wherever they were!

Thank you for your kind words, yes Lucy is our sixth dog and most painful loss without doubt. Maybe because being retired we spent so much time together. Three of ours are buried in the garden and now we have three sets of doggy ashes in the conservatory (along with my Dad!).

Just had a good cry brought on by watching a video of her 10th birthday when the kids made her doggy cakes with gravy bones on top. Hope dear Winston is doing ok after his trauma.

Yes, I was in the front garden weeding just now. Lucy would be tethered nearby, watching and barking at passers-by and dogs. Today - all quiet. Never before have I shed so many tears for anybody. So sad. So raw. 😢

The last photo was taken when her family was around her a few minutes before she was put to sleep. As you know there are so many things around as reminders which are painful. She is so missed. 😢

Good luck old boy. Lucy went off her food yesterday morning, was lethargic all day then went wobbly at 1am this morning. Went to the emergency vet by 2am and she was critically ill by 10am with red cell loss, rapid heart rate and laboured breathing. We got the family to her and put her to sleep.😢

Thank you very much. I am a bit brighter now and Dad is going to cut my bandage off. They gave Bella and I a sausage each earlier. Dinner is served shortly and my appetite has returned. My tummy is still upset after anesthetic but hopefully will improve. I am getting lots of sympathy!

I am eleven now and falling apart. I am not making enough tears so am having drops in my eye twice a day - after the Hoos capture me and pin me down. Then I have blood in my urine and they found stones in my bladder with an ultrasound scan. Just waiting for lab results on urine composition. 😱.

Hello to your Lucy. Lucys are the best! I’m feeling a bit better now but still have my tail down. Scan showed stones in my bladder so waiting for analysis of crystals in my urine. 😢
