I am still here. I honestly forget sometimes that I have more than one social media account. Current non-teaching projects include: 1) building the Lego Millenium Falcon (on step 700ish), 2) Getting my smol audio recording cube/booth set up and going. 3) Gym/weight loss/aka focusing on me!

So…please expect my journey into VA as a side gig to be mentioned a lot more often here. Several (GOOD!) situations have occurred lately which are screaming ‘do the things‘.

I *might* have had fun decorating my classroom door.

Typo in my handle notwithstanding (will fix after 14 days), I’m going to start doing the thing on my YouTube Channel.

@alasdairstuart.com So..where do I find Orange Tango in the USA? In all seriousness, I recently thought of your awesomeness in helping me to overcome homesickness when I was in York. Thank you, my friend.

Still here, creating chaos (because why not)! Completed my 24th year of teaching with the school that I will retire with. I'm not kidding. I've never felt so loved or supported. Also, @dustykatt.bsky.social just finished my 101st workout. Watch out world, this 50ish year old is just getting started.

Thinking of making a crafting blog. Where is a good place to start one?

000

ckat.bsky.social @ckat.bsky.social · 01/05/2026

@dustykatt.bsky.social 77 workouts completed! I’m pretty impressed that working out is something I look forward to now.

I am on vacation next week. I really, really need it. I love my students, and will be refreshed and full of spoons when we get back.

I now have a laser cutter/etcher. Let the fun commence!

@dustykatt.bsky.social I thought of you today. I hope you are healing okay, and also hope you know you are continuing to inspire me to take better care of myself (52nd gym workout happened 3/14/26).

ckat.bsky.social @ckat.bsky.social · 10/02/2026

@dustykatt.bsky.social Make that 33 workouts now. And new workout shoes, because arch support is a good thing.

@dustykatt.bsky.social hey- just thought you’d like to know I’ve completed my 31st workout at the gym :-). You‘re inspiring me to do the thing.

Question: What is the best online place (Etsy, Shopify,???) to sell both digital downloads and physical products?

000

ckat.bsky.social @ckat.bsky.social · 16/01/2026

Hi everyone! So I have an Etsy store. Please feel free to check it out. www.etsy.com/shop/WithATe...

If you’re at @trotcon.bsky.social and want to drop off items for the Sunday charity auction (11:30am, Mane Events) benefiting @kycohio.bsky.social, you can do so at the con store in the vendor hall! Thanks, all!

I'm also making my ginormous periodic table in SVG form for my Etsy store, as well as my vision board.

ckat.bsky.social @ckat.bsky.social · 15/07/2025

I have decided that I'm going to make the kit labels in SVG form for my Etsy store. Please note, I'm making them. I'm not using AI or any of that stuff. So they may not be perfect, but I consider that awesome.

Inspired by @dustykatt.bsky.social , I am assembling a miniature room kit. Because I'm me, I organized the tiny bits.

Cover of Magic Bookstore instruction manual for a miniature room assembly by Quanquer.

Photo of page from manual showing various parts labeled C1-C35 needed to aassemble/ decorate Magic Bookstore.

Small box subdivided into 15 sections. On lid are circular stickers matching the part to the number in the manual. There are a total of 4 of these boxes.

Oooh! Question for my fellow VA peeps. Do any of you use those portable recording booths? Like this: The Snap Studio portable recording booth delivers studio-quality sound for vocals, podcasts, and more from the comfort of your home. You don't want to miss it! a.co/d/0yDduMJ Thanks in advance!

I am so proud of myself. I just finished a coaching session with someone who has been in the audiobook field. I have goals, advice on how to improve my recording setup, and yeah...I'm really glad I did this.

I have *looks at tablet* many questions for tomorrow's chat. I will not get to them all in the time I have. This is ok.

000

ckat.bsky.social @ckat.bsky.social · 01/07/2025

I signed up for an online coaching session which will be happening this Tuesday to serious start pursuing my audiobook/VA dreams. No, not giving up being a teacher, ever.

Did not have 'get emotional while making a light saber at Disney World' on the bingo card. But it makes sense. My dad and I enjoyed watching Star Wars together (we saw ROTJ in the theater while my sister and mom went to see something else), and while this may sound really corny, I felt his presence.

Made it through the 2nd year anniversary of my father's passing relatively ok. However, ALS needs to have a cure found. So do all the cancers, etc.

000

ckat.bsky.social @ckat.bsky.social · 10/06/2025

Sooo...Tomorrow is the 2 year anniversary of my father's passing. I know some may not have had the positive relationship that I had with my father, and I don't want-especially in these times- to trigger anyone with any posts that I may do tomorrow. And, ALS needs to be cured.

To anyone in the education field (and this is not just for teachers, but everyone): I know it's really, really hard right now. I appreciate you. We all rock.

Hello! So my new job is amazing- both my coteachers and the administration. This is a first for me.

000

ckat.bsky.social @ckat.bsky.social · 05/12/2024

For once in my life, I do NOT want a snow day tomorrow. Why? I still have stuff to get out of my soon-to-be former classroom, and 2 days would work out better for me than just one. However, if it turns out I end up having to do Friday/Saturday, that's fine.

000

ckat.bsky.social @ckat.bsky.social · 26/11/2024

That feeling when, at 49, you do something for yourself that terrifies you, but works out so well. I start a new teaching job Dec 9th. I can't wait. So much more awesome is already waiting for me. I've earned it.

Is there a resource I can use to change a teacher resume into one that is more senior care centered?

000

ckat.bsky.social @ckat.bsky.social · 13/11/2024

I'm looking into switching into senior care (activities director or something like that) after 22 years of teaching. It feels right.

Screams into void. Between Twerpface being elected, and my mom having new health issues, I don't really know how many spoons I have left right now.

I make absolutely no apologies about being imperfectly perfect me. So there, sage nod, good talk.

ckat.bsky.social @ckat.bsky.social · 24/10/2024

So apparently, yesterday was needed for a variety of reasons. I'm feeling much better today.

020

ckat.bsky.social @ckat.bsky.social · 23/10/2024

Cue crying in my classroom by me today. Not sure how I'm supposed to teach 5 different grades at the same time with no other teachers, etc., in the room?

ckat.bsky.social @ckat.bsky.social · 22/10/2024

And, apparently playing a VR powerwashing simulator is relaxing for me. I'm...not normal, and I'm glad.
