Should our attention be on AI or, as many presenters say, should we focus efforts on foregrounding and addressing the systems that have produced it? Esp appreciate the points on our complicity in legitimising destructive AI models - we ARE the makers. Can we demand better through our consumption?

It struck me while listening to all the brilliant critical discussions @bsashakespeare.bsky.social conference on 'AI & Shakespeare' that AI is by definition man-made (gendering intentional). It isn't machines we're battling but human beings. The planetary and other ethical impacts are by design.
