Actually, Adams had 30.72% of first choice votes and would have won under Plurality (pick 1) voting. It is not RCV's fault that the electorate liked him. They just have byers remorse now. See rcvis.com/v/96918_irsi... for the rounds of tabulation that show how Adams continued to pick up more votes.

Based on the results from 2021, Adams was the most popular candidate in the 1st round with 30.72% and had broad support, picking up lower rankings at almost every elimination round. So, it seems very likely that he would have won under any election system. The results were not caused by RCV.
