The B Word & a Confession from the Intersection of Exhaustion and Ambition

Lately, I’ve been standing at a crossroads: one direction is labeled Exhaustion Way, the other Inner Critic Boulevard.

[1/?] I lead the Data Visualization & Reporting team at my company. We are a fairly new group - formally created in 2024. We use #PowerBI and it had begun to really take off at the company. So part of our mission is to create standards and act as ambassadors for Power BI adoption...

Anyone else noticing strange resolution/scaling on the #PowerBI App icons in the service? Been happening for a couple of weeks now.

It's 2025. #PowerBI How do we not have a color picker here?!

Ok, we have posted 3 #PowerBI Did You Know style articles. We have seen 125 views on the first article, 60 on the second, and 45 on the third [just posted this week]. Doesn't sound like much, but we have gained 10 new colleagues to our User Group as a direct result 🙌

#PowerBI folks...do you know if report subscriptions count towards report views? TIA 🙌

Anyone else feel like the File Save options in #Microsoft products are so much more confusing now?! What are all these options, and why can't I figure it out...😭

Is muting words case sensitive? i.e., if I wanted to mute deepseek, do i need all the permutations? asking for a friend 😭

Has anyone created a Comet chart in #PowerBI using native visuals? Asking for a friend...😜

Chris Majka @cjmajka.bsky.social · 15/01/2025

Is this some kind of new cruel #PowerBI trick?! How can i create a relationship if there is no action button on the bottom 😭

110

Chris Majka @cjmajka.bsky.social · 07/01/2025

We created a #PowerBI Usage Metrics Report that goes back several years. Admin Activities logs -> Lakehouse -> Power BI. We are measuring Top Apps, Most Viewed Reports, Top Report Viewers, workspaces, and trending some of these over time. What else are we missing?

Continuing this thread about #PowerBI Strategy...one of the biggest challenges at my company is we do not have a cohesive strategy when it comes to managing #PowerBI across the org...

I am responsible for developing a #PowerBI strategy at my org. One section of the strategy is dedicated to #Dataviz. This has always been my favorite part...

Hello #PowerBI friends...is it possible to make an app not discoverable? It seems to show up for folks in my tenant as a suggestion, but we really don't want to expose it unless we give them permission.

Finally got our hands on an old, widely used, report. Asked one of my new devs to swap out 12 old card visuals per page with the new card visual. Instead of 12 cards per page now is 2...times 3 pages. New #PowerBI card visual FTW 👀🤯🙌

Chris Majka @cjmajka.bsky.social · 03/10/2024

#PowerBI friends, what solutions do you have for target vs. actual using a native visual only?

Chris Majka @cjmajka.bsky.social · 28/09/2024

#Dataviz spotted in #TheLastofUsPartII donut chart and 3D bar chart 😝

I am not seeing a vertical alignment option with the [new] slicer visual in #PowerBI. What am I missing? Seems odd there is horizontal, but no vertical.

Chris Majka @cjmajka.bsky.social · 18/09/2024

BTW, if you are looking to change to/from the new #DarkMode in #PowerBI, go into report settings ✌️

To add to this, #Microsoft #PowerPoint online uses a right-click and then an ADDITIONAL CLICK to specify spelling or grammar suggestions. #ClickTax #UIUXdesign

Chris Majka @cjmajka.bsky.social · 17/09/2024

#Microsoft #Outlook online - left click for spell/grammar check. #Microsoft #Teams - right click for spell/grammar check 😭 why the different UX?

#PowerBI and #DataViz friends...what methods and documentation do you use to help end users understand functionality and context of your reports/dashboards? i.e., documentation page, feedback buttons, embedded demo videos, etc?
