We can but hope. Nothing happens quickly with rail, but bringing both up to the standard of, say, London City Airport would be a measurable improvement

Eurostar these day looks tired and worn-out. It used to be a premium experience (the prices certainly still are) but the St Pancras waiting area is like a third-world regional airport and the one at Gare du Nord is just as bad. It's about time they got a freshen-up and some competition

Nonsense. The new roof is spectacular (even if that annoying Harry Potter nonsense means it's always a bit crowded in there)

Except when you're trying to raise money to do it, when a good idea done badly will somehow act as proof that the idea won't work at all.

Of course they don't. But when idiot audiophiles are paying £8k for a mains fuse, there's obviously a lucrative market in well-off but dimwitted hi-fi enthusiasts www.futureshop.co.uk/quantum-scie...

Oh yes. I'd only seen Pignoses with lipstick pickups or some sort of random P90 thing. I'd guess at least one of those switches swaps between necks then. The other one makes you grow a polka-dot Angine de Poitrine nose. Probably

CJMaill @cjmaill.bsky.social · 30/09/2026
Not sure the Hot Rails pickups were original, so in that case one or both of the switches may be a retro-fitted coil split. Fabulous thing, though, if you like entirely impractical and uncontrollable guitars

Well, there was also Princess Grace/Rover P6, Jackson Pollock/Oldsmobile 88 convertible, and arguably more important, Ted Kennedy/Oldsmobile Delmont 88, aka The Chappaquidick Incident. Does that make the Olds 88 the most significant crashed automobile ever?

There is a hidden cul-de-sac in MK where all the '70s TV advert people are trapped. The Bisto mum. A forever pre-pubescent Birds Eye Patsy Kensit. Some Smash robots. The PG Tips chimps. A furious, perpetually Cinzano-soaked Joan Collins

True. Not helped, of course, by 'this bus has been instructed to wait to regulate the service...' and 'this bus will wait for a change of drivers...', two of the most infuriating announcements ever. It's all a plot by Big Tube (subs please check)

There's a post-season analysis piece to write on The Curse Of Marquez' Teammate, I reckon. Though you'd need a psychological warfare specialist, somebody who's bugged Gigi's phone and a very good lawyer

Driving that’s too fast, too dangerous and utterly lawless: why do we tolerate this petro-masculinity? | George Monbiot
In towns and in the countryside, I see 4x4s and pick up trucks driven without care or conscience. It’s a Magafication of transport, says Guardian columnist George Monbiot

I've been using Adobe stuff since the early '90s and they have a long and inglorious history of absolutely shitty 'upgrades' that break everything and change all the bits you relied on for no reason at all. Bring back QuarkXpress! (no, please don't)
