Just saw Nolan’s The Odyssey. The diverse casting and American accent make sense now. They are actually very deliberate choices. Because this movie is not a retelling of the original Homeric epic. It is his polemic on the current state of the American empire MASSIVE SPOILERS 🧵1/10

Turn-based RPG system was a convention inherited from TTRPG design. If we want to keep it relevant, it needs to be a necessary feature that elevates the game. E.G. player choice needs to be consequential enough to necessitate stopping time. 🧵1/3 #TTRPG #RPG #Turnbased

The dragons in D&D have never sat right with me. The description of their habitats and ecology renders them as hapless animals, tamed by nature instead of lording over it. As part of @ginnydi.com’s Dragon Week, I’ll provide you with some tips to fix it. Link to video: youtu.be/Mw04p8qbF0E #TTRPG

The old guards of D&D are leaving, and we’ll be getting “cool, new, weird ideas” from the new team. Will the legacy players be abandoned? No, they don’t have to be, if D&D can learn from a healthier franchise, Gundam. #TRPG #TTRPG #DnD #dnd5e Link: youtu.be/J874p9skM48

MMO's tanking mechanics can be mimicked in TTRPGs naturally without making it a major feature of the game by increasing tanking stickiness. Features that hinders movement and prevent enemies from attacking your party members are the bread an butter of this discipline.

The Martial Artists in CBA can't punch ghosts! Well-defined class/role weakness is an often-forgotten but important part of design for group based game. It allows GMs to challenge players more easily and let the players know when they should find help.
