SLAPPs (Strategic Lawsuits Against Public Participation) are abusive lawsuits or legal threats used to intimidate and silence people who speak out on issues of public interest. Even the threat of legal action can discourage reporting, advocacy and public debate.

Three journalists were killed over the weekend in southern Lebanon while covering the war. Ali Shoeib, Fatima Ftouni and cameraman Mohammad Ftouni, from the media outlets Al-Manar and Al-Mayadeen. They were traveling together near Jezzine when their car was struck.
